Ideas to fix/cover up chunk of paint missing

2015 jeep grand cherokee
Something must have hit the roof of my Jeep and took a nice chunk of paint off. Not sure if a paint pen would work or need something more?

Paint pen will work. Couple of coats to fill it in.

From that pic, it doesn't look like any paint is missing. Whatever is on there appears to be above the surface as I can still see red through it. Looks like it might be old/dried bird crap or some type of tar. Get some bug/tar remover and gently try to remove what's there.

Ideally you just want to lay it into the groove like painting your nails, in fact, might be best to have your wife do it. You don't want any on the surrounding paint but you do want to fill in the groove so it may take a couple of coats.

when I slide my nail over it from paint to mark my nail lowers into the section. Then when I slide from spot to paint my nail stops because the paint is higher

Post a better picture. I'm not sure we're looking/talking about the same thing.
