Thanks, thats a good idea. I just ordered one. I use MagSafe for charging at home and have a MagSafe iphone case
I ended up putting a harness tap off the cigarette... Err... 12v power port going into a Buck converter with two USB-A outputs. One of the outputs goes to a MagSafe charger on the end of a Tackform two arm AMPS mount on the upper dash, so I can charge and do wireless CarPlay simultaneously. The other USB powers a dashcam.

PITA to install (the glove box grab bar and pretty much everything else to the right of it need to be pulled) but at the end of the day you would never know anything was different than stock. All built-in ports can still be used.

Hereā€™s a couple pics of the new Jeep

Anvil Willyā€™s with hardtop (also have soft top), convenience, tech, and 3.6L/8AT.
I just took delivery of my first Jeep and same options as you and colour except I opted for the manual transmission. I went with the v6 thinking it was a more proven drivetrain and it was one of the appeals of the vehicle. So many car manufacturers are going to these more complex drivetrains and turbo 4s that I just see spending $$$$ on in the future. I think most who have bought the 2.0 or 4xe probably like their choices too but I just donā€™t see them being as reliable long term. I plan on keeping mine a long time.

Jeep Wrangler JL I went from a 2018 to a 2021 to now a 2024. Here are my thoughts. IMG_7281

Don't all 2024 Wranglers come with wireless carplay?

I have the twin to yours except MT, SOT, Safety Pack but no alpine. First Jeep. My 3.6L has a miss at 1700 rpm. Clutch is extremely light. The MT is not as engaging as I expected. Maybe when they sort out the miss I'll like it better. Enjoy the SOT far more than I ever thought I would. Love the big screen and center dash screen. Wireless Carplay is a joy.
I also just took delivery of a M/T Wrangler with tech, convenience, alpine and safety packages. I am loving it. I find the gearing a little off, making use of the lower gears more with 5th and 6th hardly ever. I guess I am going to be using lots of gas. Maybe it will just take some getting use to. I also have that hiccup or burp usually between 3th and 4th gear. Itā€™s a bit annoying but it sounds like many manual owners have the same issue. Hopefully a software update will fix this.

Once I kind of figured out the gearing I found that fuel consumption really wasn't that bad. In fact if you watch the eco meter you actually use more fuel in a higher gear at a lower speed than you do in a lower gear at a higher speed. I basically use 1-3 around town up to about 50, 4th is my highway cruising gear for about 50-65, and only if I'm going 70 on a flat freeway do I hit 5th. I have used 6th a few times but it's for like 80+ on a flat freeway. In 6th if there is a 0.0000000001 % grade the Jeep can't pull it LOL....

Congrats! I'm averaging 19.5 mpg which is better than expected with the Falken MTs.

For those of you who have the safety pack, are you getting a rattle around the adaptive cruise module behind the rear view mirror?

I donā€™t have the safety pack, but I donā€™t think thereā€™s any difference between safety pack and non safety pack for that module; all Jeeps (of a certain trim level??) have adaptive cruise and auto braking regardless of whether or not they have the safety pack.

I have no rattles there (yet, I have 1400 miles).

The adaptive cruise box doesn't rattle on my 2022. I'd take it to the dealer, but there are some threads here where people stuff something between it and the windshield.

Overall: I love Jeeps and I love this Jeep
Cool, that's all I needed to know! Glad you've liked your three Jeeps!

I do too, all vehicles have their downsides, Jeeps are no different. šŸ’—

100% yes. By FAR the most annoying thing on my Jeep. It's so annoying. I have to push on it every morning to stop it. At first I took off the little panel and thought that was making the sound, but it didn't help. I realized it was the whole module moving against the window. I am debating a way to solve it still. I think it just needs to wobble less. I was going to pull it apart then just opted not to, but you got me a little charged up now that you mentioned it!

My dealer is useless. Their favorite response - "It's a Jeep, what do you expect".

This thread has the solution. Pick up some acoustic foam for $10 and stuff it under the rubber seal between the adaptive cruise control and windshield.

I have not noticed any rattle on mine but I only have about 600kms so far and havenā€™t paid attention

I thought of two more noteworthy things:

1. The stereo is much better. In my old Sport, I usually ran it around 15/40 for volume, going over 20 meant I would have a headache later, and 30+ was deafening. In my Rubicon, I often had to turn it up past 25 to hear it on the highway, and podcasts were often 35+ to be audible. It was like someone cranked the gain way down. The new one is back like the first one, comfortable listening in the 15 range. All three were the upgraded Alpine and should have been identical to one another.

2. The HVAC in my last one was off. I know the 4xe had different HVAC than the gassers, but it just didnā€™t seem that powerful. It always defaulted to defroster so you didnā€™t get air blowing on you, and I had to turn it hotter/colder than expected to be comfortable. In every other vehicle Iā€™ve had running it 68-70 is perfect, in the 4xe I often cranked it down to 65 or up to 74 to be comfortable. I had several recalls done affecting the HVAC and it never fixed it. Eventually I started using manual mode all the time. Now, the new Willyā€™s has an HVAC system that works as I expect, always comfortable 68-70, auto works, and even when I was driving through 100Ā° heat in Texas it was zero problem.

Features wise, I did step down a trim levelā€¦ lost the full time AWD for the transfer case, kinda regret this one but it is unavailable in Willyā€™sā€¦
Understated truth, this.

The modern Jeep Willys is just a RWD convertible in 98% of DD use. Yeah, sure, it looks like it sports a Korean War era drivetrain. However the surprising thing is that it actually does.

Now, I donā€™t care. I have DD vehicles with AWD and true (i.e., three mountain peak snowflake) snow tires.

The Rubicon, for all its ā€œoff-roadā€ branding, actually gets you a more modern approach to on-road grip too, similar to a Grand Cherokee.

If there's a single pinch point that has recurringly made the rounds since I joined this forum ~4 years ago, it's the wonky functioning of the HVAC system in those trims where any of the related controls migrated away from the switch panel and to the head unit.

The subject gets more airtime than even the imperfect factory clutch design...which is really saying something, because malfunctioning HVAC tends not to cause vehicle fires. šŸ˜

Of all the decades-old vehicle functions that should embarrass a manufacturer for f*cking up, Heat & A/C might be at the top of the list. Some things should be left alone (but won't, given the market's misplaced desire for touchscreen-everything.) So much SMH here...

I have both Falken MTs that are mud rated and a fully optioned Rubicon 2 Door. Your main issue could be fixed by dropping the windshield and seeing if anything is inside the advanced safety optical shelf. I have pulled a lot of debris from areas you would not expect, from previous owner experiencing trails top less and door less. Though they never dropped the windshield... but had cut the bungies to their sun shade top, which pulled back in between the windshield frame and structure. Once dropped cut bungies with their hooks fell everywhere.

As for MPG with muds... it's much better with my pedal monster. I can get 22.5 MPG until I am hitting 70+MPH on the mountains. Which drops my average down 1 MPG. I plan on getting snow rated tires for winter and dumping the mods. They are noisy and not made for asphalt and rain and icy conditions.
