has anyone tried a USB cd? Its not music that I would want this for but books on CD from the library or ones that I have purchased over the years. I do use the Libby app but some of the most popular books I've just bought the CD's for. Books take up a large amount of data so ripping them isn't exactly my thought either.

I too, am a dinosaur. I miss the days of loading CDs into the dash and not having to look at anything or press any buttons, just load and listen. Also, I miss flipping thru the CD books, looking for the art on the disc. I don't know what the album was called, but I can recall the picture on the CD.

Now, I've got 6 million songs and 300,000 albums to go thru on my phone... I cannot find anything while behind the wheel. I end up listening to the same 5 to 10 playlists that I've built and let them go. Not to mention, most of the players are trying to sell you something, and they change the layout/format just enough that you really have to look at the phone...drives me crazy...

Get off my lawn! :CWL:

Using a cable from headphones jack to aux jack would be best, but if you want wireless, you could also get a Bluetooth transmitter to plug into the headphones jack on the CD player, then pair the transmitter via Bluetooth with the head unit (Jeep radio).

I didn't even know there wasn't a CD player. I guess I expected there was a slot and my brain never registered that there wasn't because I wasn't looking for it.

There are services that convert your CDs to digital .. like this one for example:

https://dmp3digital.com/

How good are you with computers?.. there are ways to use your computer to convert your CDs to digital format...

Honestly that's why I just use SiriusXM. No need to fumble with playlists or CDs or my phone, or anything else. Just set up my 12 favorite stations as presets, and surely there's something on at least one of them at any given moment that I'll like listening to.
I know pandora, spotify, etc. are better for curating your own playlists and whatnot, but ain't nobody got time fo' dat.

I d miss cd's as well, since I have so many of them and miss the good music. I have songs on my Iphone, an Ipod touch plugged in the center console full of a crapload of good songs that I won in a contest from a friend and a USB stick full of ripped cd's using Itunes. I sat around for hours ripping cd's and quit after 30.

I remember trying to use a portable CD player in my car back in the early 90.'s it was an ass whip. No way to stop it from skipping,

The anti skip buffering got better in the late 90s.

I'm often occupied, by many things, often at the same time
Call me a dinosaur. I had a hard time switching from cassettes to CDs back in the day (I still have a lot of cassettes stashed somewhere). And now (while I love my new 23 JLU) I don't have a CD player. I like to go on road trips and listen to CDs. I have Sirius, and I have Pandora, but I'd like to be able to know what I'm listening to.

Does anyone know of a CD player you can connect to your 8.4 radio like you can do with your phone and have it play through your speakers.
Me too!!!!

Do you want one to play just one disc at a time or one of those multi-disc changers? (I can't remember the name for them, but I do remember feeling restricted by only being able to play one CD at a time, even with "shuffle" mode activated.) The AUX port will probably be your best way. Those double-ended cords should be easy to find. Radio Shack Circuit City Best Buy or ebay should have them for a couple of bucks.
