Exactly 1 month from picking it up, it is back in the shop again! The Electrical gremlins are back. Driving home today I heard the chimes and immediately lost power steering. I was able to find a safe place to pull over and turn the vehicle off. Turning the vehicle off seems to reset the issue however the check engine light remains illuminated. I called the dealer but they said they wouldn't be able to look at for 3 days. I was able to drive it home before losing power steering again and then more service messages became visible. Stop Start Unavailable, Service Stop Start System, Service Electronic Throttle Control, Service Shifter, Auto Park Disabled, Blind Spot Alert Temporarily Unavailable. At one point the jeep would not restart no matter how long I pressed the button. I was able to restart but within 1 mile lost power steering. Fearful I would not be able to restart, I drove the Jeep to the dealer without power steering.

Hopefully, the video may be useful to someone who was not able to capture the events or worse case you can laugh at my frustrations.

Definitely share that with the dealership... That's worth 10,000 words.

My previous JKU had about 700 miles on it when all lights on dash lite up..I drove it to safety off highway before it stalled after a few miles down the road. I restarted it and all the lights were out and I drove it back home. It happed again a few weeks later and went thru forums and read someone also kept having same issue and found it was a bad ground.. I went thru every ground and made sure all were tight Especially battery ground and never happened again after. Hope this helps and good luck

Did you check your fuse box to make sure all of the fuses and relays are completed seated in place? Many of us, as mentioned in other threads, have had mystery dash indicators, uConnect problems, back up camera issues, etc. and found over 50% of the fuses and relays were not all the way in. After pushing them in place until each clicked, the problems went away.

Yes, I had gone through the fuse box everything was seated and nothing touching. The first time at the dealer, they felt it was a wiring harness. The service writer told me that they had gone through several wiring harnesses and it no longer was throwing any codes. The dealer wasn't able to determine which harness was the culprit but that it appeared to be repaired.

Do you have any of the previous codes it had set or had it not set any previously when taking it into the dealer?

sounds like a bad ground. several years ago i did some work on a car i was modifying and dorked with the ground. basically for some reason i moved it and where it was was loose. so i'd be driving do the road it it would go crazy, stop start, lights on off, it was nuts. vibration caused the loose connection to do this. i had never seen anything like this before and didnt know at the time what it was. but it certainly made me panic.

had a relative out of town when something like this happened. he had just filled up and assumed there was water in the gas. car would stop running, shudder, go crazy. he would stop and then restart the truck only to have it stop running once moving. took it to a dealer. dealer pulled his hair out for 2 or 3 days. i spoke with the relative and told him to have the mechanic check the ground. there was a worn out wire connection underneath the truck that was intermittent and loose. mechanic checked it and fixed it and it solved the problem.

so it sure sounds like a bad ground or loose wire or a short. and it can cause all kinds of miss-leading symptoms.

Serious question- are your tires really at 42/43 PSI or is that some weird electrical gremlin too? Just wondering if your issues can even impact that!

They are probably at that pressure. I purchased the Jeep in the winter and haven't touched them. It is now 90F+ and the tires were hot from driving. In all likelihood, they were that high but the tire pressure shouldn't have an effect on the electrical system. Maybe extra wear on the tires but it behaves well on the road and they seem to be wearing fine. I have been traveling too much to do anything else with it other than drive it.

Mine is now in the shop for this exact problem. What is concerning to me is that it locked my steering while in drive and reverse. I have a case open with Jeep Cares. This is also my third visit for steering related issues.

I see in the video, where the mileage is displayed said “No Bus” I would be looking at the electrical connections there is no contact in one of the main computers I agree possibly a grounding problem.

My dealer has been through all of the grounds. After 155 miles of diagnosis, they believed that the issue was the sway bar disconnect motor assembly so they replaced it and have now moved on to the main wiring harness. It's still in the garage so unfortunately I have no resolution yet for the video. Some suggested fuses and relays but that was checked during the first visit to the dealer.

I wish I could tell you what it is, I have a second case open with Jeep Cares.
