Sometime next week I want to head up to Barnwell, or anywhere around the DFW area, and have a bit of fun. I've never been so I was hoping to tag along with one of y'all that has some experience there.

Ah, I am familiar with this page, thank you. I was looking for some local knowlege specific to the DFW. (Oh damn, here it comes) Back in the day, every gravel pit, creek bed and disused field were used for riding, wheeling etc. You'd think these kinds if places were government bases or something now. Barriers and barbed wire. Makes me feel all unwanted and bad about myself.

Thanks again. I'm not sure there are such places anymore. Save for a few exceptions; I believe it unlawful to drive through, along or in Texas rivers. Most of the other places that would typically be used are blocked and barriered. I have my suspicions as to why.

I've been meaning to get out there again. I'll have to figure out how to get a couple of passes. My son will want to come as well.
Unless they recently changed(very recently) there are no "at the gate" transactions. Passes must be purchased online.

However, nowhere around the Houston area has any of the 2021 Texas OHV decals that are required. Purchasing online won’t have it in time for this weekend. I guess I’ll risk getting a ticket.

It was my understanding that OHV stickers were only required for non street legal vehicles. ATVs dirt bikes etc. Oh damn, looks like we have some research.
