I just figured out where Jeep got the idea for the new crappy XR trim rings.

LOL... saves maybe $20/ea wheel though. Profit mongers.
Not even. The wheel is still drilled and threaded for all the screws. Its just a few holes in a trim ring and another 10 screws. A couple of bucks at most when you consider large volume production costs.

So under the ring it’s drilled like the old style? So just need to get a new ring and more bolts to have the older look? If so, going to need to find those lol Old look > new look :)
Yes, the only change they made was to the cosmetic ring to save a few cents on each one by using less screws. But those few cents add up. The wheels are still beadlock capable so they haven't changed them and they still have the same number of "holes" in it for a beadlock ring so you should be able to find an older cosmetic ring and change it out.

Having actual beadlock wheels and then getting a Jeep with 10 bolt rings makes me think everytime that I look at it that I'm missing bolts. Seems just a dumb dumb place to save a few cents.

Rather than a cost savings design, it has more to do with legal issues when a wheel "looks" like a bead lock wheel.

As a friend of mine used to say… “I don’t have a dog in this fight” I wonder if the old 25 bolts are capable as bead lockers or do you have to buy a dedicated ring and bolts anyways?

Yes, but does it require a new ring and bolts? If so, I don’t understand the whining.
Yes. You need a new ring. The trim rings should not be used in beadlock form.
