Can I still drive the car?
Call your service department 1st thing tomorrow. Get it inspected to see if you have the problem.
Verify with them that it is drivable.
It sounds like the problem, if you have it, will occur if you quickly turn the steering wheel, like you would if something fell in front of the Jeep while you were driving and you swerved to avoid it. The steering may not react to that or may not react after that.
Your service department can advise you.

You could also call the Jeep Supprt line right now and ask them.

Did you get the recall notice via post mail or an email?

We cant make the call obviously, but if you already are one of the people fighting like mad to steer your wrangler I would probably consider not even if they say its ok.

The "no warning part" also does not leave one with a nice safe feeling no matter what current status

Like @PavementWarrior said above, we can't make that call. BUT Jeep has placed a stop sale of the affected unsold Jeeps until they are fixed. That should tell you something.

When I got on the recall site it showed no recall items and it still shows vehicle as "Non Owner" Do I need to get on some Chrysler site to register as an owner?

It takes a while for it to register under you as the owner. Took me about three weeks. Other people claim it was registered for them in less than a week

So riddle me this- was it a particular batch? I have an early one and no recall noted. Any word on a pattern of who is effected?

I went and registered in February. Still shows non owner. So I’m not sure why some work and others don’t.
