A lot of local Subi’s and JDM have their 3rd brake lights flickering upon touching the brake pedal - I like this. (Our local drivers love tailgating).
How is this done? Is it a bulb or a relay, diode etc that does this? Any recommendation greatly appreciated. Cheers

I was hoping that Zautomotive would do this with the TazerJL.

I wonder if that is small enough to fit into the bracket housing. That would make it a super simple hook up. You'd spend more time taking off the spare, than installing the flicker.

My dealer had one installed in my JT before I showed up to sign the papers. They told me about it and said they were going to charge me $300 (yes, $300, I confirmed he didn't mean $3 haha). Told them to pound sand and they just threw it in for no cost.

Have these really been proven effective in reducing rear end collisions?

My dealer *claimed* that insurance companies give you a discount on your insurance premium by having it installed, but never checked with my agent. In theory it seems like it actually would bring more attention to you when braking though, and I've seen them on motorcycles in bigger cities a lot.

Yes. A blinking light grabs the attention of distracted drivers. Many European vehicles do this now, and yes it helps.

Based on a study conducted by Mercedes the average reaction time to brake lights improved by approximately 0.2 seconds. That doesn't sound like much, but at 55 MPH it's a difference of a full car length.

Another feature on European vehicles is that the hazard/four way lights will flash under hard braking. This is to get the attention of and alert other motorists that the vehicle is stopping abruptly.

I "flicker" my brake lights to get following drivers attention, read years ago that a flashing light gets noticed significantly more than a steady one. Glad to see an automatic aid offered for this

I got the modules in today but the winds here in West Texas are heavy today, so I didn’t get to try them out.

They look pretty small.

I do not have the LED package but my 3rd Brake light does seem to be LED. Can someone confirm if all 3rd BL's are led so I do not have to take mine apart?
Lazy in my almost old age... ;)

Thanks in advance...

Thanks Gregj!

Ah crap, got in touch with vendor and the $5 part incurs a minimum $35 shipping charge to Canada, eek.
Found similar on amazondotca but appears these work with LED bulbs - can anyone confirm if the 4rd brake light on the JL is LED?? I do have the LED package, believe all my other lights are LED. Thanks in advance

Subscribed! I’m interested in this as I’m a biker that swears by them. I’m curious if there is a “no cut” install? I’ll crimp as a last resort if I have to. My 6 speed is tough off the line in 1st as I don’t roll quick enough to keep up with the norm.
