How to display the gear on PRND on the 8 speed auto when in automatic mode?

The photo below is from another post by Jeepster_Aus. My instrument panel does display the gear selection when in "manual mode", (such as PRNM3 for example) but when in automatic mode it only displays "PRND" without the gear position. How do I get the display for the gear selection when in the auto mode like in the photo below?

I don’t really know.

But I hear sometimes these transmissions like to hang on to 6th or 7th gear, or whatever.

To be honest, as long as the Jeep drives well I don’t think I want to know what my transmission is doing.

It’s changed on page 9 I think utilizing the arrows on the left side of the wheel

See 0age 134 of owners manual. I just scrolled thru the menu until I found it. Current gear on/off or something like that.

Looks like it is page 119 of the 2021 owners manual.

with the Jeep in park, go to screen setup (page 9) on the screen between your gages.

Press OK

scroll to the one that says Current Gear and select it to on.

Easy as that!

Be careful what you wish for. I had turned that on in my JLUR and started getting anal about the fact that the Jeep loves staying in the 7th gear on the highway and go into 8th only when I am above 70 MPH (113 KMPH). If you are not a stickler like me, go for it.

I have the 3.0L EcoDiesel with 442 lb.-ft. of torque and the ZF-sourced 8HP75 transmission. Holding 8th gear on the highway is not an issue. I love the torque and the transmission calibration is excellent.

I have mine set to show gears but I seldom see 8th since doing my mods and i chose not to regear after lift, tires steel bumpers and winch but that’s ok I get about 18-19 mpg on the highway

Your heart is in the right place, but...I gave up long ago as it concerns so-called YouTubers getting the details right. If the video in question provides the information I require, the rest is easily-ignored chaff.
