How to add a CarPlay USB A port + 1 x QC 3.0 USB-A 18w + 2 x 20w PD USB-C ports on upper dash

All done with the CarPlay USB. Dash is easy to take apart as you take your time. I fully disconnected the radio to have the most space to work - it’s all color coded, so easy to put back together.

I used a step bit through the plastic and rubber tray. Helps to tilt the windshield out to get the correct angle. CarPlay works fine and charges from the top. I did have to swap connectors or “reseat” connectors to get it to work correctly - probably user error the first time. A 6” usb to lighting cable is too short for a 67 designs arm; I think a 10” will work.

I didn’t do the 3 hub yet, need to make some longer wires.

Someone asked about wireless CarPlay. If you have that and just want power on the dash, you can just run a simple 12v usb hub of your choice and tap into the cigar lighter wiring for switched power.

I am having trouble getting this to work. I have the usb mounted in the dash tray and I believe I had the splitter cable and everything set up but was getting the error on the screen “DEVICE NOT SUPPORTED”. I would really appreciate some help. Below is some photos of it not working and also the one photo of me bypassing the usb mount and some cables and it did work when plugged directly to the car’s usb hub. I found that it did not like the splitter. I am not sure if it is the SS (3.0) vs non super speed? Or if I just have bad cables. PLEASE HELP!

this plugged iPhone straight to the hub did work.

I had and issue with one of the first cable or adapter I both. When I took another, it fixed the problem.

Did this mod this afternoon to have CarPlay and power under my Bulletpoint Rubigrid mount. Tapped behind the cigarette lighter for the power port. Tested it out and everything works great. Thanks Chris, excellent mod!
