Just received a note from dealer that 2018 jeep was ready for new brakes? 25,000 miles seems a bit early for new brakes (and I have no issues). Daily drive, no off roading and only use 4H 5 or 6 times since purchased new. Please let the advice flow :)

That seems way too soon, I also have a 2011 JKU with 125k on it. I keep asking if it needs brakes and they keep saying not yet. I am still on the original setā€¦ so I think you may have an issue.

My 13 JK has 57,000 miles and at 56,000-ish I heard the minor squeal meaning new pads. Purchased EBC rotors and pads, and I still havenā€™t installed them. The squeak went away and Iā€™m at 1,000 miles since I bought the brake parts.

Moral here, unless itā€™s audible, the stealership is after your funds, unless youā€™re driving in extreme conditions requiring hard braking. Just my opinion.

in what way? while you was at the dealer, e-mail , ??? i've gotten a couple of emails stating some service maintenance is due.

first off, the dealership are glued to the maintenance schedule list. and they will cross reference it to the mileage to the jeep. then tell you that you need xyz done. i've seen plenty of this screw ball move done, thinking that the vehicle owners dont know anything and get suckered into paying out $$$ that is not necessary. not just jeep but other brands.

this is why i stay away from service departments. luckily, i have a great mechanic that loves to work on jeeps and will treat them like his own.

Take a look at your pads for yourself.
yep, pretty easy to measure.

I found z35 pads on amazon for a daily deal back in december, bought 2 sets, have 2 jeeps.

Brakes are a wear item and depends on your driving style, so your dealer cannot estimate when your brakes need to be replaced, as you can see in the other replies it can vary and is not mileage dependent, I have 36000 on my 18 JLUR and brakes look fine.

Depends on driving style... my wife will go thru brake pads three times as fast as I would... šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

25k does seem ridiculous. I have an Alfa that I drive very aggressively, often in stop and go traffic, and regularly through the mountains, and it's not even beginning to need new pads at 25k.

In my mind ~50k is the right minimum lifetime for pads, but that could be modified by your driving style, conditions, e.g. are you constantly driving in the mountains with a heavy trailer?

I'm at 31K and can hardly see any change in brake pad thickness. I don't drive like I'm always late either though.

25K miles is way less than normal for brake wear that requires attention. Unless you are a two foot driver with one always resting on the brake pedal.

OP - Your dealer is just sending out mass mailers to drum business. Short of them physically measuring your pads and rotor, theyā€™re just using the age of your Jeep as a trigger for their mailer.

Just reply to your dealer that youā€™re busy sending a check to your rich Uncle in Uruguay that promised you a million dollars after he uses your money to purchase a new passport and prove his identity to the bankā€¦ā€¦šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

44k miles on my 18 Rubicon and brake pads look fine, it also depends on your driving style (stop and go hard braking vs highway driving and how fast you drive before braking)
