Call 'em and ask.
Thank you for the in-depth and well researched answer, but I was trying to get a ballpark so I know what to expect and on the high end/ low end price.

Well, the hardtop wiring kit will cost you approx. $180.00. The install and PCM flash will cost your about $200.

Your geographical location, the dealer you use and where you acquire the kit, can swing the price $50 or so either way.

Thanks @Rhinebeck01 ... 200 for the physical install? it seems cheap :) I am just used to paying $500 for everything for this jeep, lol.

As I mentioned geographical location will play a role in what the cost will be. Also, what dealer. Both of these impact the hourly shop rate. You could end up paying $400- 450 .... Do shop around for the parts and for the dealer that will do the install.

I bought all the hard parts and took them to the dealer. $550 for the complete install, $1K total investment. Should have got the factory version with the aux switches for $750. The install is a major PITA!!

I did the install on a JK, years ago. Yes, it is time consuming to do, especially if you have done the install before.

As I mentioned earlier, the price for the parts and then for the install and flash can vary.

You paid about the max of what you should pay for this install.

With the right dealer you can get it done for the cost of 2 hrs. labor and the $100 or so that some will nail you for the PCM flash. So, total for the install could be $400 or so with the right dealer. Parts will run about $180.

The JK and the JL are totally different animals as far as install.

I don't know how much you know about the install on this new JL, so I don't want to upset you or disrespect your knowledge base, but for the record, it's not easy...at all! I needed the 7 pin plug (there is an easier way if you only need a 4 pin), so it had to be the long, hard way. The wiring harness goes from the rear of the vehicle, down the right side, through the firewall, and to the battery. All interior pieces must be removed, and getting through the firewall is sometimes an hour process on its own. A factory plug even has to be repinned. Minimum install is roughly 4-5 hours. Some of the first to attempt it took 8 hours, I think. I had mine done back in April, just when the parts first came out, and was one of the first to have it done at the dealership. Parts cost $450, install was $550ish.

Two items are required, just for the parts...

Total = $484.98. I shopped around and got it for $450.

Here is the install thread that was, I think, the first to attempt it.

Dave,

This thread, this install is is regard to the JL 2018/2019, HARD TOP WIRING HARNESS KIT.

You are mixing it up with the Tow Package install.

Actually, I am quite familiar with the JK Hard top wiring kit install and the JL Hard top wiring kit installl. I have looked over the instructions in regard to the JL and actually offered tech support so to speak to a fellow forum member that chose to do the install himself... Yes, indeed the install is time consuming .

By the way, I'm very familiar with the tow package install on a JL. 8-)

IF someone takes an hour to get through the firewall of a Jl, then they probably should not be doing such an install..

That's probably dealer specific. My nephew gave us a hard top for our 2012 Wrangler a couple years ago. I found the wiring harness and steering column stem/control on ebay. We had our dealer install the harness & control stem, and flash the vehicle, when it was in for an oil change. They charged us one hour of standard labor.

@DCELL

With the 2007 JK's and newer the hard top wiring kit install, was quite a bit easier then the install on the JL.

Yes, I can see a dealer charging just an hours labor for the JK install, especially is they sold you the kit and got the mark-up $ on that.

Dealer had my JL for about 3 days. It was the first one they had done. Ended up also ordering some type of a jumper harness that was needed in addition to the kit. Between the wiring and washer hoses it was a major undertaking. Adding pins to plugs , adding the controls for the wiper takes time and $ at the dealerships

Mopar has 15% discount coupon for buying accessories and 10% discount for service work. Don't know if the wiring harness and install would fit into those categories but you could try.
