How much oil is too much inside air intake

Just changed my air filter and noticed there's a somewhat sizable amount of oil collected inside the intake boot from the pcv hose. I know a very small amount is okay but this seems excessive. I'm just shy of 10k miles and on my third oil change, it's never been overfilled. I do my own maintenance so I know it didn't get the extra quart from a dealer. Is this excessive or normal, was not expecting this much at under 10k miles.
