I got my JL for $12,000 off MSRP, and it’s been saving me money ever since.

Yup.

Probably $2500. 1k of that was for the Livernois tune which is awesome and now I can run E85. Did rubi take-offs and some cosmetic stuff. But I have it exactly how I want it and have no other plans to drop more money into it.

Heck, I've been sucked into the Jeep Hole since the square headlight days of the YJ. I can't count how much I have pissed away. There again I have motorcycles too. Talk about burning money! I have a $25k chopper that is probably worth $5k today. Don't even get me started on chrome for the Fatboy. I even souped up a Lincoln Town Car.

Yea, I have wasted plenty on vehicles in general. But you know, its only money, right?

We have all bought stuff for our jeep but if you could see in hindsight what was good and what was crap that you bought, what would you have done difference as far as purchasing accessories?

Here is my ongoing worthless shit-list:

1. Decals
2. Cupholder inserts (although I still have them but eh)
I actually love my decals, I don’t consider them worthless. I also get compliments on them constantly.

Wasted money on my JLR, Hah. My wife has just contracted a 200K remodel on one of the rentals. At my age I might never is a returned profit. LOL, I could have had 2-V8’s built.

I purchased 4 different sizes/packs of Grease Fittings, all of which did not fit, only afterwards to call RK up and learn the CORRECT size!!
Mind sharing what the right sizes are? I bought these two from Amazon but am still in the return window.

I’ve had a lot of fun driving my JLUR but have been trying to stay disciplined around what I spend in upgrades until I’ve had it awhile and really figure what I need. That said I don’t feel like I’ve wasted any money on it (which of course could change over time), but I’ve probably spent the following:

Door sill guards: $30
Steps/rails: $300
Rear hitch mount/adapter: $50
Casters for hard top carrier: $20 (frame built with leftover 2x4’s that I already had laying around)
Hard top hoist: $20 (had unused straps but needed some industrial eye hooks and some 2x4’s for the lateral braces that go under the top)
Plastidip for Rubi wheels: $20 (haven’t done this yet, still on the fence and just haven’t had time)
Generic rubber cargo mat: $30
First aid kit: $40

Long range, I’d like to get takeoff steel Rubi bumpers, a winch, window tint and a headliner, but that’s a ways out yet...

It is not wasted money, it is called an entertainment fee. If you want to waste money buy a boat. I don't even call what I spend on the boat money, we call it boat units, it feels less painful.

Well, underestimating the Jeeps ability cost a bit over $4k. I originally kept things more conservative, thinking that 2" of lift and 35's would be enough without hindering daily drive ability. Turns out that the 2.0/8-speed combo didn't even notice the change, which planted the seed of regret for not doing what I really wanted. I've gotten a bit of a return on the very lightly used Dynatrac lift and 315 ko2's. Next up is pulling the 8 Synergy control arms to make way for those from Metalcloak. No complaints though, it's part of the learning curve.

Not a dime wasted, now that I'm well into what I originally wanted.

Vehicles aren't investments. They are depreciating assets. Having put a hemi in a JK and just getting started on a JL, it's all money well spent on personal enjoyment.

Is that the same as your boat being powered with the economy 454's?
... no different than any other 454, but it just makes you feel better when you hit the gas pump ... LOL
