The poll is incomplete. It asks how many Jeeps we have owned but the only choices are Wranglers.

"But a Wrangler is the only real Jeep."

Ahh...I see.

I estimate my parents have owned ~15 Jeeps, owning pretty much continuously since a 1976 CJ7 Levi’s to a 2020 Grand Cherokee and a 1997 TJ today.

1953 M38A1
(Air Force blue; no pics)
1972 CJ-5
(Burnt Orange; no pics)
2004 TJ
(Willys with my own personalized military markings)
2005 TJ
(Badger Red; lifetime keeper Jeep)
2008 JKU
(Great in DC & for those Eastern seaboard snows)
2016 JKU
(Blue Line Special; will keep for foreseeable future)
2016 Renegade
(Does this even count? Wife’s. Sold)
2019 JLU
(Mojito! MOAB. Mother Of All Beasts!)

Everyone remembers their first vehicle and mine lead to a lifetime of them. Before we actually moved from Minneapolis to Wisconsin, we had a 100 acre hobby farm there and my dad gave me a military surplus ‘53 M38A1 to play with. I was barely a teenager and had to sit up straight to see over the windshield bottom. It would be a few years before I actually got a drivers license, so I carved my own trails on the farm. Had an absolute blast with the three-speed. After I got my DL and drove on real roads, I blew-up the little 4-cylinder motor and gave the jeep to my little brother to rebuild. Lost track of it after I joined the Army. The CJ hung around as a “family” vehicle and it eventually got sold. Then school, jobs, and marriage intervened and it was a few years before I picked up the ‘04 Willys. My BIL still has it.

My favorite Jeeps other than the M38A1 are the TJ’s. My ‘05 Flame Red ‘Rocky Mountain’ will remain with me forever (although I prefer the 5-speed manual from the ‘04 over the 6-speed in my ‘05). The ‘08 JKU was fun to have in the DC area during my government career, but happy to dump it for the ‘16 JKU if nothing more than to get rid of that damn mini-van engine. The Renegade was for the Mrs and we were both glad to see it sold. So far, the ‘19 MOAB has met all of my expectations and the plan is to leave one of the four-doors in Wisconsin and leave the other at our winter place in the south.

Now getting to an age where the mileage isn’t pounded on as much and it will take some innovation (perhaps a Hybrid or an EV) to get me to buy again in about five years. Though still likely heading west this summer with the MOAB perhaps to visit Moab, among other places. And, “Yes,” we like a diverse color assortment in our Jeeps!

I started with a 96 Cherokee and then a 97 Cherokee. 4xe will be my first new car as well as my first wrangler.

Wow, there really are some nice Jeeps in this thread. I can say with certainty that all of my Jeeps have been fun and I don't have any regrets about buying any of them. The only Jeep I miss selling is my 2 door JK. I guess it's because I had the most memories with that one. Now that I'm back in a TJ (LJ), I'm confident this is my favorite of the bunch. I may end up with another JL at some point but I'm certain the LJ will remain my favorite.

Well this is my first wrangler. 4th jeep

first 94 XJ 20 years later though it’s now a tube buggy and for sale. End state is lots of tube, 4.5 stroker, d300, 44/8.8, 36s

94 xj for parts

02 WJ overland - totaled. Had 4.5” long arms and 33s. That 4.7ho was a fun motor.

20 JLU sport.

Mind you the wife stole the wj from me as a daily driver and keeps trying to steal the JL over her navigator...

Picked-up No. 4 yesterday, 4-21. 1 TJ and 2 JKs previously; the JL feels like a Lexus by comparison.

On my third Jeep now.

Unfortunately, I can only own one "toy" at a time, so started with a '99 TJ, sold in 2004 to purchase and restore an '80 CJ-5, and now selling the CJ because I just got a 2-door JL. So sad I have to let it go, but just need something a little more practical. Here's "Rojo" in her latest, nearly pristine glory 😭:
