How long will my driveshaft last?

Yesterday I ripped apart the boot on my rear driveshaft. How quickly is this going to fail? My plan is to now replace it with an Adam’s driveshaft but don’t think I can make that happen before next weekend when I want to hit the trails again.

Unless you're mud bogging I wouldn't be concerned in the least. You could use a dry wax based lube like what's popular for bike chains if you're really worried

You might also find a way to zip tie on a shock boot or something...but I guess it might just get too friendly with the gas tank

A week's worth of driving is not going to do anything. You are in no danger of imminent failure.

Thanks for the replies. There will be some water i have to go through, but definitely no mud bogging.

I was going to coat it with some grease so its not completely dry

when I was trying to get through this trail and eventully wound up getting high centered on this big rock, the rear drive shaft made contact multiple times where the boot is located. Needless to say the rock won the battle
