I like this whole deal. And I’m insanely jealous. I bet the heat index wasn’t a humid 105 up there, huh?

Yesterday, 12,840 on Black Bear. The San Juans aren't challenging but it's my backyard so it's just so easy to access.

Incidentally, a stock FJ Cruiser ran with us and did fine....which I mention only 'cause of the infamous vid of one flopping. Now that I understand EXACTLY where that happened (it's before "the steps") that guy just couldn't drive. That's a pretty big ledge despite the miracle of video making everything look tiny, and the guy in the vid chose very poorly when he didn't square up to it and instead hit it at an angle, dropping his left front tire first

I was there shortly after that flop and helped to recover him. That was a fun day.

I'm going to be out that way next week. I'm not going to do Black Bear this time. Taking some newbies with in a new Jeep. But I will be up there somewhere.

Took the diesel over Vail pass (10,660 ft). Didn't stop to get a picture. It just cruised right up and back down. Went to Leadville the next day (10,000+) and it did great.

I just got to Ouray and will be going up over 12-13k in the next day or two.

I baked out my JL at the top of my parents driveway last night. Had a nice view of their garden. Looked like the neighbors just pruned their hedges.

Wait, what was the question again?

Got almost all the way to the top of Yankee Boy Basin. The very top was snowed in. But I got over 12,000 feet. The diesel just chugged right up the rocks with no drama at all.

Wow, cant believe I have missed this thread until now. The pictures are soooooo awesome! I certainly can't wait to go to some of these trails.

Alas though, I made it all the way up 351ft today driving over the bridge over the rail road tracks near my home. The fun of living in the Mississippi River delta. :like:

Highest I've had my JL so far is just a tad under 10,000 feet in the Sacramento Mtns in NM. The turbo shows its stuff at altitude.
