As nice as the Gibson leather phone holsters are, I couldn’t really justify the cost. So I came up with a cheap version.
You can get cheap neoprene cellphone pouches for $5-$10. Or make your own using an old wetsuit. On the side of the console there is a round plastic cover. Pop that off to reveal a small bolt and washer. Take that off. Cut a small hole into your neoprene pouch, stick the bolt and washer through the hole, and reattach it to the console.
The bolt lies a quarter inch below the surface so it won’t scratch your phone. You could use other materials besides neoprene, but it needs to be flexible enough to fall into the hole and thick enough to protect the phone.
A 12 inch charging cable reaches it perfectly and allows you to use CarPlay or Android auto without your phone getting in the way of anything.
