Thinking of getting kayaks for the family this summer (never had any before) so trying to figure out best way to mount / carry them on the JLUR. It is roofless from Apr through Oct so any rack would need to fit without the hard top on.

https://www.hitchmount-rack.com. Didn't want to leave your post hanging, the way Sadio did to Klopp yesterday.

Do you also have a soft top? I'm going to try this although I am unsure if I trust it at highway speed.

Here’s what I did on my JK. These were the Yakima cross bars. Solid (but noisy) even on the interstate at 70 mph. My new Jackson Bite wouldn’t fit like this with both yaks, but I ended up trading it for Silverado a few years ago anyway.

*Second picture was what I did when I had the soft top on. I didn’t feel safe using the bars with the plastic frames.

How many kayaks are you talking? It gets real old hefting them up on top of a truck. Years ago I gave that up an modified a utility trailer to use as a kayak hauler. Makes like much easier hauling four boats around.
