How did you spend your first drive when you picked up your JL?

I'm expecting an early March delivery and I'm coming up with a list of places to go after rolling off the dealer lot. What did you do on your first drive?

After picking my former JLURD up at Petersons in Nampa Idaho, we headed to Birds of Prey canyon with 106 miles on it. Got back to the RV in Mountain Home with al little over 280 on it.

Got a big greasy hamburger. Every new used vehicle I got, always a step up, I aways said I will never eat in it (every fatty knows that’s a lie). So first truly new vehicle I got, I decided on the way there I was just going to eat in it right away. Got me a Baconator (double stacked) and drove it to the work location I was assigned for a few more weeks before heading home.

Traded my 10th anniversary JKU Rubi for my JL, and although I was back in a stock vehicle, The JLU is such a better ride and drive that I just smiled all the way home

2.5 hours home on all back roads through MD and PA with my oldest son. Great father / son drive.

Manual says no freeway for the first 60 miles to break in the engine. So I picked mine up in Irvine Calif and took surface streets down to the beach and cruised around a bit. Then headed home up Beach Blvd. Played with buttons and settings. Stopped and took a couple of photos to share with friends and family.

It was a great afternoon/evening.

8hrs driving it back home from the dealer and getting reacquainted with driving a manual transmission..lots of bonding along the way.

It was 2018, stock tires inflated to 42lbs, down a 2 lane country road with a 50mph speed limit that the trucks do 65 on, add in the 25-30mph cross wind gusts and passing trucks, and I was flying and had a vice grip handle on the steering wheel trying to keep it on the road.

But I still loved it.
