Not with the JL 'cause I don't have a snorkel yet, but have played in the water with my JKs:

Can't tell did you and the Toyota have a snorkel? Very nice vids.

Enough said.

You're comparing a possible dent, a paint scrape or an easily replaceable broken part to possibly flooding your motor, tranny and all the modern electronics. Makes sense.
No, if you prepare your Jeep for water fording, none of that will happen.

I'm comparing it to this:

Some Jeepers on the video are hard core-wheelers, but many others are the regular Jeepers "off-roading and going way off the beaten trail and rock climbing"

You can add a roll-cage, a 5-point harness and wear a helmet, but that may not guarantee you coming out off a roll-over in one piece. But I guess for you, your engine is more important than getting hurt. Makes sense.

I need to go see my Chiropractor after watching that. :surprised:

Hey people... I was wondering what is the max safe water depth a stock sport/sahara can drive through without stalling out. I dont have a lift yet, but I have the 33 rubi tires on. How deep have any of you gone?
My Sahara says on the back gate. (This is with stock wheels of course, so take tires and lift kits into consideration. Ribi take offs aren't a lot taller, so the same number would apply.)

(Woah. Sorry it's so big.)

I was able to drive through 42-43 inches of water, for approx 1/4 mile. I drained the axle fluids after that, but all tests showed no water had gotten in them. Lucky for me that everything was cold, when I drove through it all, or it would have cooled down, and sucked the water in, through the vent/breather tubes.

I installed jet packs. Water crossings are a no brainer now

Went pretty deep. Water was over the hood for a few seconds.

My JLUR can't even keep me dry in the Costco carwash. No way I'm driving in water any deeper than the rock sliders. What's the upside to driving in deep water? But the Jeep jetpack looks like fun.

I guess my idea of fun is different than these guys.

Yes, we both have snorkels. I wouldn't attempt that w/o one. That would be like rock crawling w/o a roll cage. LOL
Lol

Having a snorkel does not mean you can traverse deeper water.

Lift and tire size do.

.....and a set of big testis.

Water didn't look that deep but you drove in too fast and out ran the now wave so it broke over the hood.

It was well over 30 inches, also had to do 4 river crossings of 30 inch plus to get there.
