Very cool I want one! Other than keeping it clean is there anything special needed to take care of It? How does the performance output hold up over time?

The hard top version is a good idea, too, but overlanders who are probably their primary market like to carry things on racks on the hard top.

I'm not in the market, but I think this is a very creative solution to providing power, and unlike portable panels, these would keep generating while you are on the move.

I love seeing such innovative Jeep accessories. This one is a great one! Bravo!

We should have awards for products/accessories/mods of the year as voted by forum members. @JAY what do you think?

No special car needed! Just clean and wash just as you do the rest of the vehicle. We have been testing these panels for several years now and they are still producing at peak performance :like:

Does it seal down completely to the hood so no dirt will get under it?

Great idea. I am sure that these will be a big hit.

Offering it without the controller as an option will be key. Many people are already running a system for solar (like the Victron units). People will be turned off to spend money on something they don't need.

Also, anxiously awaiting the TJ hood version.
Agreed. I already have a charge controller built into my Redarc BCDC auxiliary battery charger.

It would be very difficult to steal as the panel is stuck on the hood very securely with 3M double sided adhesive. Unless you really know what you are doing it would be very tough to get off. This is one of the reasons we opted for adhesive instead of magnets for the panels.
I'd bet the other reason is the real one why not to use magnets.

Correct! There is a strip of 3M double sided adhesive that goes all the way around the outer edge and weather stripping that goes around the hood bump/washer nozzle cut out.

If anyone is interested in participating in the pre-order and would like to order without the charge controller please send me a PM and I can get you sorted. :like:

I have a Rubicon, so I'll wait and see how that turns out. 40-50 watts under peak conditions doesn't seem to be worth the exercise - still useful, but not as much as I'd like if I go down that path.

My only problem with this on a smooth painted surface. Would be if dirt and rocks would get underneath and mess up the paint.

Great idea! But would it be possible to remove the logo or use a color that is a little more discreet?
The logo is actually pretty discrete in person. If you wanted to cover it up you could always sharpie or tape over it. :)
