Rookie asking!

First admission

* I'm the navigator. I get us lost so the drives are longer; JLU

Second admission

* I've lusted over a Jeep since I drove a surplus Canadian Army Jeep in a summer job. Yup it's taken me a while.

We drove about 40 miles 2 weeks ago on muddy back roads. Think slime. Awful clay slime. The Jeep was great.
We found a conservation area that was not being used and took it down some trails. 2 wheel tracks to boat launches a distance away. Snow covered. Beautiful.

Part way along we stopped and I got out. Getting back in I didn't know I was wearing a lot of mud. So I trashed the navigator's seat. From mud on my back and shoulder; I was thoroughly covered in mud, and I didn't know.

Darn! Felt stupid.

I gotta figure a way to keep the mud outside. On the Jeep. Not inside.

Any hints for a rookie?

Seat covers for excursions? Did you swap out your floor mats yet? I’ve got the Quadratechs. Fit like a dream. Don’t do the door sill guards though, unless you want to have to alter them for fit yourself.

When I'm riding around in mud I just stay in the vehicle, lol until I pull up to a car wash. I'm also a clean freak.

Thanks!
I managed to coat my down coat's left shoulder and back in mud, getting back in... Climbed in facing the driver. Spun and sat. Mud was everywhere. inside.
Yes. We have floor mats. And sill guards.
Soon to get a spare tire cover when we find one that suits.

Get a cheap Walmart steam machine for the accidental messes mats and covers can’t keep off. Thoroughly clean everything, let dry completely, get some 3m fabric protection spray, let it thoroughly dry before using the seats. It might help with repelling some water/dirt penetration into the seats, floors but the can does say under normal use, reapplication every 6 months (I imagine a little longer would be alright as they want you to buy product often.) is needed. There are also cheap disposable seat covers you can buy or the slightly more expensive cheap seat covers that won’t hurt your feelings if they get torn up from the washing machine.

I got in passenger side. Good down coat. Think puffy and warm
Brushed mud on my left shoulder; then on my back as I slid in. I didn't even know.
Have to figure out how to get in and stay clean of the mud--we were covered to the roof with muddy slime from the 40 miles of clay road we were on.

Snow tires on the factory rims.

All my photos are from behind the wheel. There's enough to clean outside without bringing it in.

Try as I did not to allow it, my old Jeep JK has had mud in it in a significant way dozens of times. I've learned not to worry about it until I get home and then just clean it. The thing still looks like new 13 years and 137k miles later. The JL will get the same deal, but with much less worry by me. Lol! We did a very muddy trail in Moab in October of 18, of all places, and gave the JL it's baptism by crud. Surprisingly, not all of Moab's trails are about the rocks!

I just fetched something from the Jeep JLU hardtop
The front rain gutter spills a constant stream into the Jeep, into the front footwell.

Is there any fix for this?

It's raining hard. We have flooding north of Toronto

Don’t get out in mud, problem solved. Other wise make friends with your service guy and ask for some the of the paper service mats.

also you can always hose out the Jeep.
