Hello all!

Hope everyone is well and keeping safe!

Anyone out there using a Hi Lift Jack alt that ISNT an $800 ARB?

As much as I would love an ARB jack and as cool as I think it is, I cant pull $800 for it.

I was thinking something like this...not sure how it would do though...

Any other suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

"Our new lightweight, portable, Co2 operated jack is made specifically to carry on UTV's and other lightweight off road vehicles"

Jeeps aren't really lightweight anymore. I don't think this would be up to the task for a Jeep.

I've heard from many people regretting buying a hi lift jack, I'd be more tempted to get some recovery boards instead, and use a bottle jack instead. will probably get more use out of the recovery boards plus you can use the boards as a platform when on muddy ground to get better grounding with bottle jack than the hi lift jack.

I am far from an expert on all this, just going on from what I read and what couple people have said.

You can get all different sizes of scissor jacks for trailers. They're light and travel well. But like any jack, they have their limitations and hazards too.

I was eyeballing a 30" lift RV scissor jack and making a baseplate and saddle.

But, if you don't want to fabricate or can't, there's this 24" lift scissor jack setup ready to go. Much more compact than a farm jack. https://desolatemotorsports.com/shop/accessories/haul-master-scissor-lift-kit/

Looks sexy, but I wouldn't think it would be worth the $$ for such a limited use. A scissor jack is cheap and will do as much or more for about 1/10th the cost. You won't feel bad about driving off of a $35 scissor jack and damaging it to get unstuck. But a scissor jack is really un-sexy.

I'm getting ready for an exploration trip across a lot of desert and want to build a mount for a fullsized shovel and pick mattock and probably the HiLift. I have a RockHard front bumper with a crash/light bar that's not being used. I think I'll fabricate a mount that bolts on there and holds them all right in front. Then I can take it off when it's not needed or put it on when I do a trip (or go to the mall ;) ).

I splurged and got a US Jack bottle jack. My thinking was that the quality control would be better and that it would be far less likely to leak. Plus, you can't over extend it as it has a mechanism to stop that.

One good thing about a high lift is if you need to deBead a tire for some reason, the high lift Jack makes simple work of that. I’m a proponent of bottle jacks. Small and easy to Pack!

That's not an Arb jack. That's what costs so much.
While the cost may be out of scope for a lot of wheelers, having made a living in manufacturing in a past life, I'd say $800-900 is not out of line for what processes are needed to make that type of product.

Oh, 100% the person I was replying to thought it was a farm jack style or Hi Lift I think. The Arb is far from that.
