Good day all! New on here and 5.5 months into owning my 18' JLUR. It's a blue manual in cloth. I've encountered some problems and figured someone may find my time spent in finding solutions to them useful!

> U Connect 7 - Carplay constantly disconnected and froze from day one. A few times it dropped while I was using maps and I realized once I'd cruised 30 miles past exits. Fully up to date phone and usage of a genuine Apple brand cable didn't help. 5 dealership visits later, all including a loaner, and they hated me. I told them I didn't care how many times it took, a vehicle the price of a Mercedes should be respected and work like one. With the latest visit it was finally resolved (mostly) by updating the system's software from version 181002 to 182808. It dropped once since then but happily reconnected with an unplug/replug, which hadn't worked previously.

> Very annoying key - This sucker is BIG. And always opening in my pocket effectively making itself bigger. I need the hard key for when doors are off, to lock the console/glovebox. Only then though. I looked all over online and couldn't find smaller replacements, so I opened the key up hoping I could harvest the guts and make a wooden enclosure that could fit them while being smaller. Nope. So I did the next best thing I could think of to somewhat help living with it, which was reversing the tension on the hard key spring. Now instead of opening when you push the button, it closes. So if it's closed, it stays closed. If you need it open, you hold the button and push a little on the top until it pops out enough to grab it and lock it open. For the handful of times I need the key, this has been much better.

> Door Sill Paint - This started scuffing very quickly from hitting it with shoes on the way out. Since the body is like a tub you sit in, you end up using the sill as a step to get out. Cheaply remedied by an Ace run to pick up "3M Safety Step" grip tape for stairs. Cleaned the surface with iso-alcohol, measured, and cut to fit. Stuck on and been good for four months. I did it to all four sills as well as the rear bumper recess (just for shizzles and gizzles). Way cheaper than sill guards for purchase. (see photo)

> Dim-ish headlights - Silvania Silverstar Ultras....I've put them in nearly every vehicle. Bulbs are always a crap shoot to discuss, but I feel they made a difference and def upped the appearance at night versus the gross stock 3000k bulbs.

> Rock-addicted fender/body spacing - Everyone knows this problem. I tried using the rubber trim seen here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NL4DI2E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 as others had done, but wasn't impressed with results. It didn't stay in well and either worked in too far or pulled out and flapped once on the highway; pulled it out and reused it for (another) problem below ;). I just picked up some black DAP acrylic caulking today. Flexible and UV resistant, I think applying this to a clean surface will work great and be barely noticeable. I'll update if anyone is interested.

> Rear speaker bar vibration - for not having the upgraded sound system with subwoofer, these suckers still hit great in my opinion. All Chrysler products that I've heard have always had great stock sound systems. My only gripe was a horrible vibration at even low volumes from bass notes on the rear bar. I remedied the resonance issue with a vertical bolt through the whole bar, utilizing eccentric bushings from bicycle brake pads to get it to disperse pressure evenly on the angled surface. I then used the discarded rubber piping from the first fender attempt to press into the space above the bar, between the enclosure and the roll cage, as well as below the bar between the enclosure and the trim that houses the dome light. Evenly installed it looks stock and you cannot even see the top piping, but it is now TOTALLY SILENT even with big bass hits. Now I notice vibration from the front somewhere.....:CWL:. That solution gets to wait till next weekend. (see photos)

> Accessory Lights - I wanted to utilize the OEM upfitter switches as they're awesome, so I purchased the cheapest legitimate LED lights I could find. I have no interest in a hooligan-esque light bar and cannot rationalize spending hundreds on KC or similar branded lights if they may get torn up on the trail. I purchased two pairs of these for front and rear https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DHNFXKL/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 along with the following for installation. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MSJMAU1/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MRYMY6Z/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J7S39CW/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N07O1GO/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I already had spade, butt, and bolt connectors but you'd need those for the wiring as well. I had to get creative at Ace to mount them beside the cowl, but after that they went together great and are dumb bright. I used the space below the panels beside the cowl as a discreet point to do the wiring junctions and so I could get to them in the future should it be needed. All for around $70. Still needing to do the rears. (see photos)

> Illegal to drive with doors off - Mirrors were the remedy! I picked the following up, and after a quick Ace run to get a little better hardware with washers and mylar washers to get them tight enough for highway travel, all was well! Cheap cheap cheap! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MKHQK4S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DKT0DO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (see photos)

That's all I can think I've done at this point! Always more to come.....let me know if you have any questions. I attached the photos as I didn't know how to embed them. Bad with technology. They're not in order but they're all there! Cheers!
