Curious is anyone else using (free to use) Here We Go ?

Along with Google Maps and Waze, I have been using Here We Go. In regard to Here We Go, I have only been using that for a few weeks now.

Yes, Here We Go is not lets say what Maps and Waze is..... but to me, Here We Go is quite the Nav app for around town use.

I particularly like the way the app presents on my 8.4 radio with Wireless Android Auto. I like the in my face lets call it Shortcuts, Collections, etc.

I also like the easy easy map saving to the smart phone.

Never heard of it. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
If you do check it out... download and install the Here We Go app and then set it up on your smart phone.

After set-up on your smartphone then go and have a looksee on your JL's radio screen.

I say the above because on the smartphone it does not impress like it does when in the mix with Android Auto or CarPlay.

App is avail for Android or iphone.

Screenshots?

What is the appeal over the other big players?
No screen shot handy.. 8-)

But it's... the way the app presents on my 8.4 radio with Wireless Android Auto. I like the in my face lets call it Shortcuts, Collections, etc.

Right on the main screen you have easy access to list of destinations, shortcuts, collections.
Install and have a looksee and see if you appreciate the offering like I do.. Again, it's not a Waze or Maps but ...

I use Maps and Waze lots as I interstate travel lots... Of course, I also drive locally.. Anyway, especially for locally but even distant driving the app Here We Go is a nice addition.. I use the trio.... Maps/Waze/HereWeGo.

I used to use the original HERE app, back before they renamed it. Not sure if anything's really changed much, since the app URL is still the same. Seemed pretty decent and very comparable to the paid Sygic GPS mapping software I was using at the time.

Mostly had an interest in HERE since it was bought/redeveloped with Nokia back when they still had new and innovative products (prior to Microsoft essentially destroying them) and because it was one of very few GPS apps that you could download offline maps (full states or the entire country, iirc). I've just never felt comfortable with Google Maps' limited offline availability, which was for a limited regional size and would expire after a certain period of time (not sure if its still that way or not).

Even with the seemingly ubiquitous cellular reception everywhere, I've found myself in plenty of places that have rendered Maps completely useless, while still having a good GPS fix. Having an app with offline maps (or even a good 'ole paper map), even as a backup, is a must imo

It used to be just be called "Here". I was a fan back when it was the only map app for Windows Phones. I like to use it when I know that I am going to be off grid, as you can easily download maps for offline use and they seemed to be very accurate. Will have to check it out on AA.

YES .... it was HERE and apparently it was sold to another company. Within the last year the app was overhauled and for the better.

For guys/gals that use a Nav app in the city, when walking, etc. the app is very good too.... AND yes, offline use maps for all countries are avail..

OH, and can be used in conjunction with a Galaxy Watch, Gear or Fit..

Yes, pretty accurate... NO, it does not have the user input in regard to police, pot holes, hazards, etc..

Pretty horrific reviews really.
The reviews that you read and there are plenty .... that are "horrific" ....were reviews of the offering before it was overhauled months ago.

Again, the app is not Maps or Waze but ... it is in no way "horrific"... It is worth a looksee and only takes a few minutes to set up and take out to the JL.. and it's a free app offering.

@AFD

With Google Maps, you can download maps for all the areas you will be going to.

You cannot download maps like this with Waze.

With Here We Go, you can download maps and it is real easy easy to do in comparison to that deed with Maps.

Disclaimer: Just for the record, I just mention Here We Go as it appealed /appeals to me. I am a tester for Sygic and I speak little of Sygic, because it does not float my boat so to speak. And, SURE, I am a fan of Waze and Maps.

There's not a ton of software and apps that I've felt compelled to pay for, but a decade ago I spent $25 for Sygic Navigation (for Android) and really loved the app, other than a few minor niggles. At the time, it was about the closest experience to using a stand-alone Garmin that you could get.

Years later, when they eventually moved to a "free" à la carte platform, I really grew to dislike the revised app, the new nickel-and-diming of "premium" features, and all the other UI changes that were made. It's still serviceable, but imo, so much worse than it used to be.

Man it has been a hot minute since I've seen someone praise old-school Nokia on a web forum. Feels good, like the old HoFo days, if you were around then.

Yup! Lurked there a lot and still do occasionally. Still have my "tiny" vintage 8265 and my N900 ☺
