Jeep is at the dealer now unable to duplicate. But here's been the issue.

The belt just starting squeaking quite badly one day. Under warranty, so I took it in. They replaced serpentine and tensioner. Worked great. But then it got pretty cold out here. When not garaged, a cold start on a cold morning would start to give a very, very light squeak but only when the Jeep begins to roll. At idle, you don't hear it. At a stop light, you don't hear it. But once you get up to about 10mph to about 40mph, you can hear that common belt squeak sound, but very faintly. When the engine gets warm or the weather gets warm, all is good.

It is a 2022 Wrangler Sport S 3.6 w/eTorque. When I crawled under, the best I could see from that really cramped space, I was surprised to see more than one belt. The serpentine was there, but there was at least one other that I had suspicions was for the eTorque. Not sure if maybe it's related to that second belt.

In any event, the dealer has attempted to repeat the circumstances for a couple of days now with no success. Maybe it has become too warm. Still, wondering if anybody else has had this happen or know what it might be.

I had a similar issue. Horrible squealing when cold, would disappear by the time I got to the dealer. They replaced my belts, tensioner, but it persisted. I basically asked them to keep my Jeep overnight so they could start it cold and hear it. Turned out the harmonic balancer pulley was split. Replaced that and all was good.

It's the etorque. You are hearing the noise when it engages.

Thanks I will pass the insight along to get them to check it out!

Ok but why didn’t I hear it in the last couples years when it came on? It’s only post serpentine / tensioner replacement that I hear it.

Oh, no something is definitely wrong with it now. That's just what I believe you're hearing. Idk if there are any good pictures around, but basically the belt is wrapped with maximum achievable contact on that generator pulley with tensioners pinching the belt inward near the pulley. That belt circuit needs attention.

Great, thank you. I’ll pass that along as well. Without hearing the noise, I’m hoping they’ll at least check it. Or it will just have to get worse over time I guess

It’s great! I took it to a different dealer. The problem ultimately was that some debris had jammed itself between the water pump and the engine block and kind of fused itself in. Whenever it got colder, I guess it was either contracting or expanding (if full of water) causing it to alter the position of the water pump. They got the debris out, replaced the water pump, and I have been good to go ever since
