Does this setup work well? Any issue with having it inside compared to mounting it outside?
I am moving my half wave GMRS antenna to the inside, same reason, protect it from the elements, and it works fine going through the fiberglass top.

I used a ghost antenna on my cowl mount. Seems to work good, but haven’t tested it in the trail yet. Will test it at the Moab Jeep Jamboree soon (I have hand held just in case). I stole the mounting location shown here but mounted it on the knee panel (got a spare, so the original is untouched). Waiting for a rocker switch to cover my first mike location (it had interference with the bar). Since is on battery power, the switch will allow me to make it a positive shutdown.

Wow this is an awesome spot!
Just seeing this! Thanks. It’s really worked out great and there’s tons of room underneath. Signal is pretty epic! :)
