Yes the third brake light flashes 3 times before going solid.
Don't they all do that?
Mine does not do that. I ordered mine and picked my Jeep up just two days after they received it. I have been looking for these "dealer add-ons" as other forum members post them. I do not have the OBD II device, but I didn't lease the vehicle and that may be a requirement for leased vehicles with specific lenders.

@Rhinebeck01 looking at those pictures, White w/ green stripe is the feed line for the CHMSL. So you cut that wire in half. From the body-side, white/green goes into the pulse module (Red on both modules posted here) then out of the pulse (Yellow) to the camera side of the White/green. Black is just a ground that can be tapped into the ground (black) for the camera

Edit: He also just told me that Pulse is OEM approved and many manufacturers are currently requesting to make them standard equipment installed at the factory.
Not sure where the OEM approval came from, but the OEM approval is not cited on the Pulse webistes:

https://www.pulseprotects.com/product-info/

https://www.pulseprotects.com/introducing-pulse/

Furthermore, it is not mentioned in the above websites that the Pulse is a DOT approved device.

A summary of DOT lighting is shown in:

http://www.carlightings.com/What-is...ment of,, standards, specifications and tests.

Further details are found in
https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/title49/section/393.24

It is not stated in the Pulse website that the wiring, connectors and spices are in accordance with SAE standards (e.g., SAE J1292), as reference in §393.28.

@agarber5687 and @BCalvin

Terrific info and pics.... but I'm still not seeing wire colors or exactly where to cut in.

IF the panel is still off can you look and post here say, Red pulse wire attaches to white wire with green trace, etc.. Another words take pics out of this and just explain, this color Pulse wire attaches to this color wire on the harness..

Thanks again!

p.s. I sent an email to Pulse asking where locally to get.
I am not sure I can take better photos. I was trying to get the connections.
From my brother-in-law,

“The red and yellow wires of the module connect to the power wire running to the third break light; completing the circuit and allowing the module to perform its function, the black wire of module then is simply connected to the ground wire via a “t-tap””

No idea. You are talking over my head with all of this and I just forwarded his response.

He says the pulse module meets DOT compliance and they have a bill pending at the federal level and are working to have the backing of the NHTSA (again, no idea what that is).

He says it does not void any warranties but I have heard people putting MOPAR parts on and dealerships claiming it voided the warranty so who knows.

I will say this though, my brother-in-law is considering both a Bronco or a Jeep for his next purchase. If he goes with the Bronco I will let everyone know so you can completely disregard all of these comments... :CWL:

Hopeing you don't find any "Moore" things hung on your wiring harness. The wires tacked on to OBD made it hard to remove wiring from Security Gateway and add my Tazer. The add on brake wiring made it hard to raise the third brake light to clear 35 inch tires. Glad I got a great price but I don't think I will go to that dealer any "Moore"

Besides the sneaky way they may be making you pay for it I can't believe they didn't spend another $1 and wire that device up to OEM connectors so it is plug and play.

Looks like it just connects in line with the power line to the 3rd brake light and then black to the ground. Probably has to run in a certain direction thus the different power feed colors. I would guess RED is IN from the source, and YELLOW is OUT to the brake light - directions with the unit should explain it. It does look like a very simple install.

No markup or dealer added charge that I was aware of. I didn't know they did this. I noticed the
3rd brake light flash sequence that turned to solid when testing the relocation kit and thought it was a JL thing.

When i first found it today I thought it was another tracking device lol.

I like having it, I will clean the wiring up tomorrow.

It has no part number or manufacturer sticker. It's just a small circuit board cover in shrink wrap.
No way to ID it at all.
I like having it too, I’ve had one on my Harleys for years.

I actually like the blink and thought it was factory, it's not obnoxious.
My wires were definitely hacked and I don't think dealers should be modifying new cars like this.

I have two leads after the plug that go to the 3rd brake light. White with green trace and a black ground. They cut the white with green trace patched the yellow line in and red line back to the white with green trace. Then tapped the ground with black.

I'm going out to the garage now to solder/clean it up. The guy cut the lead 1/8" from the plug
