I keep finding strange modifications in my new 2020 Willys.

First thing was a tracking device pig tailed into the OBD2.

Now im installing a CB antenna in the rear tail gate.
I found a very small circuit board in yellow shrink wrap that has been installed with cheap
auto-zone butt connectors and this time it actually damaged the harness.

This can't be OEM and im getting sick of finding hacked up stuff all over in a brand new Jeep that had 10 miles on it when i bought it.

Does anyone have any idea what this thing is?

Weird. Watching this thread. I’ll be working in that same area on my new 2020 next week so interested to find out what this is.

Completely guessing, but maybe a flash module for the high-mount stop lamp. Does that lamp to flash several times before going solid when you press the brake?
Yes the third brake light flashes 3 times before going solid.
Don't they all do that?

No, from factory it would just be on solid when you press the brake.

It's a pretty common aftermarket add, and a lot of dealers put it on there (then charge you $50-$100 for a "safety device" that cost them maybe $5)

I was actually going to ask if for '20+ Jeep had added the flashing CHMSL (which I find incredibly annoying) because I saw a JL do this the other day and it looked quite new.

Lapis nailed it. That's exactly what it is and I had no idea they added it.
The install was a real hack job, but i'll clean it up with shrink tube and solder.

Thanks guys!
@BCalvin

Is there a part # and or brand name on that thing? If so, please provide here. Thanks!

Was there some markup noted on the dealer sticker, doubt they'd just throw that in, even though is was a shaky job :(

No markup or dealer added charge that I was aware of. I didn't know they did this. I noticed the
3rd brake light flash sequence that turned to solid when testing the relocation kit and thought it was a JL thing.

When i first found it today I thought it was another tracking device lol.

I like having it, I will clean the wiring up tomorrow.

It has no part number or manufacturer sticker. It's just a small circuit board cover in shrink wrap.
No way to ID it at all.

Couple more coincidences, picked up a 2020 Willys yesterday, I am originally from AZ and my name is Calvin! I like the bead lock color matching wheels on your jeep, looks sharp. Mine is the Stinggrey with diesel. We installed a Mopar 2.5inch lift at the Dealership as I was signing the paperwork and should have 35s installed first week in Aug.
