Possibly. My dealer tries to slowly force more gas in and it began pouring out. Did your tank show full when it began clicking off?
Yup exactly. You could slowly force more in. I had it pour out a couple times during routine fill ups before even getting to 16 gallons I would turn for a second and look back at the pump and it was spewing out and didnā€™t click off.

It did show full every time even when it was not taking the full amount of gas.

Dealer claimed it was all normal but once I opened a case with Jeep Cares and told them about the gas spills etc. they got right on it and authorized the dealer to order new parts.

Curious if new parts solve the issue. If this was functioning as designed I guess no amounts of replacement parts are going to fix it.

I tried filling up yesterday till had about 30miles left. 17 gallons. Built date August 07, 2018

I got a slight improvement of a gallon or two more with replacement parts, no more leaks, and no more clicking off multiple times during a fill up. Itā€™s still a gallon short by my math and I think thatā€™s the design issue or misinformation of the true tank size. And I think they programmed the low fuel warning a bit premature at least compared to the JK.

How much are you able to fill up when the fuel light comes on?

I usually drive it until it reads LOW MI on the range and then the most itā€™ll take is 19 gallons or a little less depending exactly how much I drove it

Ok I guess Iā€™ll try to drive it till it says LOW for next time and test again.

I tried opening a case with @JeepCares based on your feedback when I started reading this thread. They blew me off and said I had to work with my dealer on this. Several weeks later, three service appointments, and Iā€™m still being blown off by Jeep. They wonā€™t return my dealers call to see what they can do.

Actually, just reread my message from Darlene. They did say if the dealer didnā€™t resolve the issue to provide them additional info and they would try to be an extra layer of help. Iā€™ll try it and see where it gets me.

So I just got an update. Apparently Jeep says it's normal for there to be 4.5 gallons in the tank when the light comes on. That doesn't sound right to me, but my issue is that I still have 4.5 gallons when my range says "lo miles". When my light first comes and I fill it up I can only get 14.5 gallons in the tank. When I told my dealer that he was incorrect in his conversation with Jeep he said that he would rewrite it but I'm simply beating a dead horse.

What heā€™s saying is about right... maybe 4 gallons when the fuel light comes on and then 2 when the LO MILES comes on.

Out of curiousity how do you know that you have 4.5 gallons left when you have LO MILES? There are 2 possible scenarios:

1) you have 4.5 gallons left when it says LO MILES

2) you have 2 gallons left when it says LO MILES and the tank just isnā€™t filling up all the way (seems more likely than option 1)

The only way to know for sure is the run the tank dry completely and track how far you get after it says LO MILES.

I donā€™t know for sure. I just know when my range gets to lo miles I can put around 16.5-17 gallons in the tank. If itā€™s 21.5 them simple math tells me itā€™s 4.5 gallons. Iā€™ve been tempted to run it dry to see if there is really that much gas left in the tank but itā€™s simply too dangerous to do.
