I am currently looking for a 2018 Sahara in the area of Philadelphia, and I don't mind driving up to 3 hours if I find a good deal.

How much should a basic 2018 Sahara cost me? I have found one close to where I live with MSRP $45,000 and listing price $38,000. Is the $38,000 a good price for a vehicle that is almost 2 years old? How much can I get such a vehicle for?

Thanks!

20% off of MSRP is your target for a new 2018. So, your offer should be $36k, including doc fee, and not a penny more.

A basic Sahara still has a lot of features. With the premium sound and 8.4 screen it’s worth 38k as long as its new, no mileage and full warranty.

I bought my 2018 Sahara in Sept MSRP was $46, 615 I paid $39400 that was during current model year with 2020 coming shortly it is on paper 2 years old. However I just checked to see what carvana.com would pay for my 2018 Sahara they offered $35,600 which is basically a wholesale price.

How do I approach the dealer in order to get it for $36k?

Just tell them that this is what you will pay and not a penny more. If they refuse, just walk away. Simple!
Couldn’t have said it better myself! You hit the nail on the head :) If you really want it, maybe come up $1k. Meet them in the middle.
