So I see in the news today that previusly merged Italian and American car makers Fiat-Chrysler (collectively "FCA") again merged (or was viciously consumed) by some corporate beast named "PSA" (you'll remember them of course from crappy French cars called Peugot). Further, now Jeep and a bunch of other brands are all part of this new monstrous thing called "Stellantis", which is a Dutch company apparently. So confusing!
At first I thought the name was some kind of bad joke, since it sounds like one of those drugs on TV that is for chrohn's disease, depression or chronic male impotence.
But nope, that's really the name somebody in a corporate boardroom--maybe even an ambitious intern--thought sounded just great. "It's classy. It's catchy. People will love it!" I am sure was the pitch.
Anyway I got to thinking that now instead of blaming FCA for our Jeep's cracked windshields, intermittent radio and backup cameras, and other various issues of poor quality control, we must now direct all our righteous rage and complaints to Stellantis, and not the now deceased FCA.
Then I got to thinking that constantly griping about a company called "Stellantis" is very awkward and needs to be shortened for all manner of forum complaint purposes. Think about it. Who wants to keep typing Stellantis each time they gripe? Nobody, that's who.
So I guess maybe just calling it "Stella" is a bit easier to manage as a nickname for our new corporate overlord. Hey, that actually sounds familiar. Oh well, let's all bask in our upcoming warranty-related adventures with Stellantis, I mean Stella.
I just hope I can still buy Mopar branded brake pads and sure-to-fail sensors made in Mexico instead of having to ask the kid at Autozone for the Stallantis pads (still made in Mexico).
