With a Willy's or a Rubicon, best place to start for a beginner: Skid plates and a winch. You've got good tires, and good tow points, gearing and a rear locker will get you pretty far. Go for safety, functionality, and recovery. Even if you're not doing "hard core rock crawling" or a frequent wheeler, it's better to protect the underside of your Jeep from rocks and debris because it is pretty vulnerable off road, even if it's just bottoming out. You don't NEED a top of the line winch, but I will always recommend Warn/ Superwinch/ Ramsey as they have been the big 3 for years and have decent warranties/ parts availability. But make sure you put in time to learn to safely use it even if you have it on your Jeep because Winches can be dangerous if misused.

Not sure what else, since you've got SxS experience, but the only other thing is Jeeps are more crawlers than speedsters unless you're building an Ultra4 car, but that's a whole other story...

Is that a 2024/25 Willys? Or just the grill?

So I take it, you plan on taking it off-roading? Rock crawling or just regular off-roading?

Where do you take your side by sides?

That is a 25 willys. Mostly local in central cali, randsburg, Ridgecrest, Johnson vally(KOH) moab here and there and sand hollow as well nothing 2 crazy

Welcome and nice work picking the Willys. Though some have trouble admitting it, we all know it's the best model.

I am enjoying taking my Jeep out and figuring out what it can do in stock"ish" form. I added Ace engineering rock rails. People on this forum love to spend other people's money, probably because it's fun, but just go out, break it in, and have some fun.

As others have suggested: do nothing to it other than whatever internal / external tweaks make you happy. You'll discover areas that you might want to improve, so come back at that point and ask for feedback.

For off roading you'll need a compressor. Craploads of options out there, but consider something like an EPIC Kraken if space is a concern and you think you'll be off roading frequently. Alternatively do what I did and buy a cheap one to get by, then plunk down more money after dealing with the pain points.

Sweet Willys! I've had a 2024 JLU Willys for about 4 weeks now. So far my first and only 'mod' was the Rock Stopperz for the hinges to get me through these brutal winters in Wisconsin. The spray pattern directly aims at those hinges so i wanted at least own it a few months before paint damage. Front skid plate would be next since it is currently a plastic air damn. If anyone can recommend one I am all ears.
