Hello, I have a 2018 JL Sahara unlimited. I live in Minnesota (not sure if it's relevant) where we had a few days of real cold weather (up to -57F windchill). During this time, my heated steering wheel stopped functioning. Everything else in the Jeep seems to be working. The steering wheel heat will not come on when I remote start. When I manually push the button, it comes on for about 2 secs and turns off automatically. The wheel doesn't get warm at all.
I do have an appointment at the dealership on Friday. In the meantime, I was wondering if anybody could help me diagnose this. I looked up the manual and plan to see if the fuse is popped (F60 per manual). Is there anything else I should look for?

Definitely sounds like a problem. I wouldn't stress it and let your dealer fix it as this is not expected behavior. Mine gets so damn hot I have to turn it off after 5-10 minutes or my hands start sweating.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just thought if I knew where to look and found something, I can quickly point to the dealership and have it fixed instead of them figuring it out.

Can you post a quick update once you get back from the dealer?

Thanks

Thatā€™s the pitts! We use ours every time we get in the Jeep! Sure it nice when itā€™s cold out, and today is one of those days.

Sure hope they get you fixed up!

I wanted to post an update to this. I went and dropped the Jeep off at the dealer today. They ran diagnostics and told me there is an open circuit somewhere. And that they will need more time to figure this out. I came back to work and just got a call from them. They now say that they are going to have to replace the steering wheel completely.

Edit: After talking to the dealer in person, it seems like there is a module that regulates the heating system for the steering wheel. The dealer (mechanic) said that the module had a melted wire in it, and it is not possible to replace just the module, that they have to replace the whole steering wheel. So, that is the conclusion. They have ordered a replacement and I should get it in a week / 10 days. I will update the post when it is fixed.

Were you able to get the issue resolved with a replacement module? I'm having a similar issue with my heated steering wheel and it went to the dealer 1x already who said "it was operating as designed". The steering wheel will get lukewarm, or if it does get hot, it will only do so momentarily before getting cool again.
