Heated side mirrors?

1) How the heck do you turn on the heated side mirrors?

2) Does the little heat symbol on the mirror light up when on?

Heated Mirrors — If Equipped

These mirrors are heated to melt frost or ice. This
feature will be activated whenever you turn on the
rear window defroster (if equipped). Refer to “Climate
Controls” in “Getting To Know Your Vehicle” for further
information.

Push on the knob that has the same symbol as your mirrors. On my Sport S, it's a square with heat waves. And I have never noticed my mirror symbol lighting up.

It is the same light as the rear defroster.

For extra credit, I can confirm that the heated mirrors still work even when your rear defroster connections eventually fall off Apparently those systems are on the same switch, but different circuit.

I was going through all the buttons waiting for the symbol to illuminate, thought something was broken already.

Rear defroster different circuit, 30A fuse. Mirrors different fuse 10A. Yup mirrors still work when rear window defroster's 3 dealer fixes don't (different thread, sorry) !!! No light shows up when mirrors on?

The symbol on the mirrors is not a light. It’s just a marking to let you know that you have heated mirrors.

3 dealer fixes?! I admire your patience. I doubt I'll even go in for 1.. With a two door the rear glass heats up pretty quick in the morning. No real need to bother with it.

I need to look into it, I just took ownership a few days ago I am not used to a car like this, my previous car was an M4 so this is a step up for me in a different direction.

I know what it is, I have the soft top, so I definitely don't have a rear defroster.
