You could not pay me enough to get within 10 miles of a spider migration. Have fun with that one.

Years ago up in the local (So-Cal) mountains I came across a cluster of tarantulas crossing the road. There were at least 2 dozen in a 1/2 mile stretch. I avoided running them over but I did not stop and interview them ;) I saw some of the strangest things in those mountains... won't even try to tell you about the UFO I saw up there (dead serious about that).

Yep, tent camped through such an event in Arizona. In an hour you're likely to see hundreds upon hundreds. They're pretty chill little guys.

On our local news (Arizona) I saw a story about this happening. If I were closer to Colorado, I would love to see it. If you go, let us know. Pics!

Wait until October, and then head up to Apache Lake. You'll get a good show.

Back in the late 70's we would drive my pickup to a 2 lane highway outside of town around sunset in the late spring. Tarantulas would invade the road looking for warmth in this area of north Texas. We'll shovel hundreds into the bed of the pickup then go cruise main street. Pull up in a parking lot were everyone was hanging out then discover who was afraid of spiders as they crawled out of the bed.

They pass through my place every October.

They're totally cool, very docile and not really poisonous from my research. They avoid the dogs if the dogs say hi.

I like seeing them

I haven’t personally seen it but my grandparents and mom witnessed it here in south Texas many years ago. Driving across some farmland suddenly the stretch of road was covered in them. According to my grandfather it was all you saw...thousands of them in the fields and just streaming across the road. No thank you.

When I lived in No. Cal. we had migrations on our property. The streets were alive, ALIVE!

[QUOTE="MrMischief, post: 797128, member: 33793"... is there a better place to see them other than just crossing the road?

Maybe from afar?

If I lived closer I'd do it in a heartbeat. How cool is that? Two summers ago I swam with sharks off of Point Judith in Rhode Island. We had mako's, blue's, and one Minke whale. The biggest shark was a blue about 12' long. It was so cool just swimming/snorkeling with them. They were not aggressive at all.
