I'm sure it has an actual name. But does anyone use one for their garage, to lift and store the hardtop, and how much garage ceiling height is required?

Had one for my JK. Only needed to raise it a couple of inches to drive out from under it, but the higher the better to get it out of the way. It's now holding a Canoe. (Love my SOT top now)

I have the Lagrange power hoist from XT for a high ceiling garage. Works great. I can remove/add my hardtop in less than 10 minutes now. I did a write-up on the "other" forum before I switched over to here. Ping me for pics if you want.

I have the Harken hoist. Works well. I have 11ft ceiling so it goes way up there and tucked away for summer. I use it often in the spring when I haven’t put the soft top on yet. Takes only a few minutes to pull it off.

Cheapest way is 4 eye-bolts and two thick ratchet straps. The JL top is way lighter than the JK, so only a few inches and it's out of the way.

From the looks of it, I'd assume you'd close the garage and slightly swing the hoist over towards the jeep when lowering to remove the top? ...Then as it raises you let it swing over and away from the garage door rail? or do you just pull up real close to the wall?
