Not really; there were all those prototypes they drove around for about a year, and you can't tell me none of the test drivers noticed anything.

Then FCA does have wind tunnels they could put at least one production vehicle in from time to time.

Also, I think it would be trivial to build a test rig to check for this using compressed air that would add maybe a minute to the construction time of hard top Wranglers.

Finally, you have to remember that everything is built to a price point. A $1M Ferrari is built to a price point and even at that price cost-cutting measures are made.

It's a matter of what customers will accept, and FCA knows that for Wranglers a significant number of customers will forgive things using the "Jeep thing" excuse - either that or on the sixth failed repair attempt they will just give up (ask me how I know, and that was during the TJ era. ;-))
And totally missing the point of what I posted, which was in direct response to a statement about the DEALER being expected to catch this during prep - how does ANY of what you just wrote here relate to the DEALER catching this during customer prep?

This forum has been quite entertaining, somehow went from wind noise to Beer quality. So is everyone having this issue, or some form of wind flow/noise issue?
Nope, no problem with beer quality here.

Done. I made a very small adjustment moving the windshield up. Just gave it a test drive and could notice a slight improvement. Mine was never that bad to begin with. Might not of even given it too much thought except for the fact it was a little louder than my JK. Anyway, that was easy to do and fun to take the windshield down for the first time. Just remember you are driving a big rectangle with a removable top and dont expect luxury vehicle noise levels.

Very cool. Thank you!

So there are lots of seals. The windshield has to seal with the area ahead of the dash, the A pillars of sports bar, the doors and the freedom tops. That’s a lot of area for potential leaks. Still makes me want a JLU even more!

My only concern with repositioning the hinge is whether it might expose an unpainted area that might be susceptible to rust. Easy solution would be to add some touch up paint if needed to protect the metal.

Finally took my JLUS out on the interstate for a wind noise check. At 70 it seemed about the same as what I recall from my JKUS. I would have to drive them right after one another to be sure, but I didn't hear anything that seemed beyond what I recall. Also no air infiltration that I could feel.

I did however notice that the seam from top to bottom on the windshield is not even. Maybe this spring I will drop it down and do the adjustment that has been suggested in here. Too darn cold to work in the garage this time of year.

I am up to 250+ miles now, might have to think about trade-in again..... :)

I am up around 250 now also! My dealership was a little further from my house and I had to go back to get my running boards installed ;) I was pleasantly surprised by the wind noise in the JL vs the JK. I only test drive the JK a few times, but the JL's noise with the hard top seems to be greatly improved, enough that I noticed. I just can't wait to pop that top off when the weather gets nice! For now, I'd be happy with a good amount of snow to mess around in!

I need to check into the seam issue everyone is talking about.

My dealer told me this is what's causing the hold on placing hard top orders right now. Anybody have information on when that'll change?

I’m waiting for my dealer to get side steps in so I can put them on mine. Noticing much more road crap all over the sides without them.

Yes, I hear Quigly will refund any low quality beers. I'm saving all my empty bottles to send him :)

I think the issue should be reported (maybe via JeepCare), and without knowing how bad it sounds, or how easy it is for any of us to fix, Jeep should sort it out and get things dialed in.

Anecdotally, when I bought my slightly used M3 (nice car IMO), the iDrive wheel, which is a big shiny piece of stainless metal centerpiece on the minimal center counsole (older buttonless version), it came off in the lot. Salesman told me they put it back on with a special glue for that metal to stick to the assembly, comes in a tiny tube, etc. Cool, they think of everything.

Of course when the dealer glued it back, it sat crooked, so it was not flat. So this feature piece used to interact with everything would turn like a crooked plate. LOL.

IMHO doing things right is not about how much you paid, it's about wanting what you built to be done right.

Since this noise seems to be inconsistent that, is quality. On the other hand, leaking water off the hard top is a design issue.

I shrugged off the road noise as a Jeep thing. However, after reading this post it will be interesting to see if I can reduce the noise by adjusting the hinges. The passenger side looks perfect, the driver side is off worse than the picture shows. I'll post an update after I make the changes.

Does anybody know before the adjustments to the hinges were made were the screws tight? Could be a little loose from factory and shifted during transport causing the gaps?

I have a couple beers still in the fridge that some friends brought over, and the taste quality is definitely lacking. What would be the best way to go about contacting you to resolve the issue?
