To the original creator of this thread great post and vid. However I started to go this route to creare a “hoist” for my JKUR hardtop and realized I was over thinking it. A couple of two by fours, four lag bolts, and four ratchet straps and your good to go. The only difference being you have to ratchet all four corners individually. Super easy and I think I spent $30. I’m now using the same set up for my JLUR

I haven’t tried that but i don’t see why you can’t do that.
Hmm, I asked the same question on the product page on Quadratec and they said the window has to be open.

Wow...You know I was looking at this same exact thing on amazon before seeing this thread and was up in the air. Now that I've read your post, I will be $145 dollars shorter in my wallet .

Thanks alot!

the back window will not close all the way flush but I'm sure it can be folded down. The straps are thin. I have not tried it though.

Yeah I've looked at videos/photos of the straps on the rear window and they look thin enough for it to fold.

Maybe if you get bored today, you can try it out for me :D

I did the same thing on my old TJ with one exception...I only used 2 ratcheting tie downs running under the roof from the back to front. Worked like a charm.

You may be able to use this lift but modify the pick up points using these: http://www.topsyproducts.com/products/hinge_hook_hoist_bracket
Run the long nylon webbing across the front for the two front pick up points and use the hooks (with window closed) for the rear. Would need to dial in the lines so they pick up equally. No pressure on window seal also.
