Looking at a 2dr Rubicon hard top And probably Granite Crystal.

Curious how people decided between black or body colored with body colored fender flares.

Two door, I like the traditional black top. 4 door, I prefer painted hard tops so it looks like a poor mans G-Wagon.

I'm somewhat of a traditional Jeep guy. I wouldn't get the painted fenders or a painted hardtop. If you use and abuse your Jeep it's easier to find the non painted fenders. Plus it'll be cheaper.

Matching colors, in my opinion, gives a more sophisticated look. So, it looks more professional in the office parking lot (when we ever get back to the office). Black tops/fenders, again in my opinion, say, “I use this thing for what it was designed for.” Both are equally fine.

Sort of, kinda retired....mostly
Rubi's need black tops. Otherwise, they look like Saharas.

On a dark color like granite crystal it doesn't seem to be that much different between black top and granite top. For lighter colors I like a body-colored roof but I wouldn't pay the cost to get it. I prefer black fenders either way, partly because I will be using the Jeep offroad and wouldn't want to scratch up painted fenders.

I’ve always liked the contrast with black top and black fenders. ..but I have to admit that the new high altitude in all white looks sweet and brings me back to the 80s when you had the color matched bumpers and wheels.

On my Bikini Rubi 2-door, I think black hardtop looks best (as well as with most other colors) however had I ordered white, I would have had to go with matching top. Saw a white Rubi 2-door with white hardtop, black fenders, lift and 35's and have to say it was one of sharpest looking rigs I have seen...

Both are good.
Onroad, painted looks great!
Offroad, painted gets scratched.

Also the front of the rear mud guards, will be hit by stones from the front tyres.

My choices were purely desert functional. Any body part that can heat in sunlight and transfer that heat into the interior is painted white. Any part that will not transfer heat to the interior is not painted / black. So painted hard top and unpainted black fenders. They don't need to match and if you go off road painted fenders scratch while black hides scratches better. Bright white surfaces stay significantly cooler in strong sun.

So if you're not looking to abuse your Jeep would you go for the painted top and fenders?
