Ham Radio and Aux wires

Has anyone wired their ham radio to the Constant/Ignition wire that is bundled with the Aux switches? I am wondering if it is thick enough (gauge ) to do the job. I planned on splicing the Ham radio power directly into it.

Anyone have any thoughts or opinions?

I hooked my 2m/70cm (Kenwood TM-V71a) to one of the 40A aux switches. I can switch it between on all the time or in the ignition position. I haven't had a problem.

The ham radio I’m using draws 8.5 amps at the max.

The ignition/ battery wires are 10 amp fuses.

Should be fine

The issue with thin wires (and excessive number of connections) is not a max current, but rather a voltage drop at max consumption, which may affect RF output power in some radios. A rule of thumb is to stay within 3% voltage drop when transmitting on battery power. Your radio might be unaffected by this issue though.
