In BC original equipment doors are the law. Mopar tube doors are not allowed, nor are any other types of aftermarket doors. Half doors and full doors are the only legal doors. The police have been very strict with it lately.
TG I live at the beach in NC. Tube doors in summer are the norm.

I'd love to know if your key worked for both sets of doors...did you buy back the doors that the other guy sold
The cool thing about JL doors is you can swap out the locks in a matter of seconds.

I bought half doors through fb marketplace 2 years ago.
I swapped out the lock mechanisms, and haven't touched my full doors since.

I've yet to find a better half door option than OEM.

Per our local CDJR dealership, the numbers exist in the catalog that they could be bought, but theyā€™re not actually in the parts catalog that can be ordered yet. They are backordered and it would be 45 days before he would have any more information as to whether or not he can order them. The price differences range from 3000 to 6000 and it varies from two doors to four doors with or without proximity sensors, etc. There were no image files attached to the parts numbers so he wasnā€™t able to print anything out for me other than just the numbers do exist and are probably going to be able to be bought in the near future.
I doubt Mopar would leave the kind of money that people are paying for these doors on the table and not have a set for people to buy. And reading the post above it sounds like our Canadian customers have no choice but for OEM Mopar half doors if they so choose to get them.
Iā€™ve got a full set of slate gray half doors with proximity sensors that Iā€™m looking to trade with somebody that has a set of 4 black half doors with proximity sensors, preferably somewhere near Nashville, Tennessee. Iā€™m not interested in driving across the country or shipping anything and if the word Zelle comes out of their mouth the deal is over.

What is the color of the JL in the opening post? Looks like the RAM truck green?

How the hell do they even know what they're looking for? Especially on the older Jeeps.

Are they not more forgiving in rural / less populated areas? Seems that a lot of places (apocryphally) tend to not care so much as long as you're not doing anything stupid or harmful to others.

What are they doing about mods like lifts and bumpers?

At least we're good with stuff like that in Ontario for now. But who knows how long that will happen. I mean, drivers have less and less rights as it is (we can be pulled over for pretty much anything and given breathalyzers without any reasonable suspicion... Just because is enough now. Since it's been nonsensically lobbied for years that driving is privilege, and therefore we don't have the same rights as being on foot... Which is a dumb contention. A privilege is something given that can be removed without reason. Driving is accessed through following the rules, and as long as we do so, we have a legal access to it. And it can't be just taken away without cause. Therefore, NOT a privilege aside from everything else related to ones economic status in life. But clearly I have digressed off topic into a rant LOL).

As I understand it from a retired RCMP member, anything that doesn't look OEM will be pulled over and ticketed. If you want to dispute the ticket, then you can present your build / option sheet that shows in the case of the older CJ's that it came without doors, or in the case of newer Jeeps that it came with the doors that are in dispute.

Lifts, bumpers and other modifications are not mentioned in the standard. Doors specifically are.

This is from the bulletin that went out about 11 years ago:

---
MVAR Division 7.09 (1) outlines the standards for the safety and repair of vehicles. In the associated schedule to MVAR Division 7.09(1), section 11 states:

ā€œDoors shall be installed in a vehicle where the vehicle was manufactured with doors. The doors with which a vehicle is equipped shall be in good working order, and any hinge, latch, or handle must not be missing, broken or inoperable.ā€

In British Columbia all vehicles manufactured with doors as original equipment MUST have all doors properly attached and functioning as described above while operating on highway to be in compliance with MVAR Division 7.09 (1). CVSE has determined that ONLY the Jeep ā€œCJā€ model manufactured prior to 1986 may have been manufactured without doors as original equipment.

If in question, the vehicle operator is responsible for proving or providing evidence that their vehicle was in fact manufactured without doors.
---

As far as I know, nobody has tried escalating through the court system (quite costly) in an attempt to get the law either thrown out or to get it clarified if aftermarket doors get around the language in the standard.

Technically, going with half doors on my JL that wasn't originally equipped with them (not on my build sheet) would be illegal, but my hope would be that since they are OEM and an option rather than an accessory (like tube doors), I'd be able to avoid being ticketed. I accept the risk though that I could buy the doors, put them on, then immediately get a ticket when I pull out of my driveway and that would be fully on me.

I wish you good luck. Half doors look fantastic and they look like they belong on them anyway!

Someone is selling a set of green ones for $1800 around me and I'd buy them in a second if I had the money to blow. Then Just put a yellow wrap on them...

I bought a set of mopar jl half doors from a friend earlier this year and when I installed and wired them on my jeep my fob worked the locks but I had to get the physical locks rekeyed - $35.

Careful. I have seen no less than four people post sarge doors with the same pics. I have mine so didn't reach out but the ads always disappear.

I guess with summer I haven't been paying attention. But if used start getting to be $6K...mine are probably gonna go for sale! I dig them though. Doors off is nice, but I drove four hours of highway yesterday and the lesser blast of wind was very welcome.

Please forgive my ignorance. But are these doors for looks or for state requirements for a door? This is a lot of money and storage required.
@Heater In my case, I used to own a '98 TJ and later '04 AEV HEMI TJ and ran no doors, top down ALL the time BUT I was single and had NO KIDS.

Now I finally got back into a Wrangler and have 2 Autistic children and a wife (now ex) with anxiety and could never run no doors with them. SO the compromise was half doors. The wife was comfortable to drive without the uppers in when driving around town and the kids could still have the uppers in for protection and the heavy wind to their faces bothered their autism. BUT they love having the uppers out while driving on the beach.

Then when I drop the kids off to school/camp, I pull the uppers out and put the top down and have the open air feel I love. I store the uppers in the trunk (under my Squad Box Enclosure) and when it rains, I just throw the uppers on (unlike the tube doors can't) to be fully out of the rain.

ONLY negative is in heavy winds the uppers do get blown to cause them to gap from the door frame (even with them adjusted to max seal), so if I know I am going on a long trip/vacation with my kids, I put the full doors back on so there is no worry about that & less worry about thieves (yes I still have to worry a bit with the soft top but minimized with Tuffy Center Console Lock Box & the Squad Box Rear Cargo Cover System) because the full doors make it harder to break in.

BUT ultimately, having the half door gives you so many different configurations you can go with based on weather conditions, ESPECIALLY with Autistic kids.

All these comments about pricey half doors. You should try configuring the doors-off mirrors!

Stellantis is digging through the couch cushions for cash ... you ought to help 'em out!
And I thought 275 was ridiculous when I ordered my jeep with them.

Forgive me if this has already been posted, but I noticed Half Door kits are now available for purchase on the Canadian Mopar store and appear to also be on the US Mopar store.

There are very little details about what the differences are (a bunch of part numbers with different prices), but I would assume they would signify different included uppers and mirror / lock options.

Some of the part numbers are as follows:
68505474AC
68505483AC
68505477AC
68505479AC
68537442AC
68505492AC

Parts at my local dealer couldn't be much help as to distinguishing what came with each kit. It could be that descriptions will be updated soon. Pretty pricey, but maybe better than waiting, shipping and repainting. If anyone has more info, feel free to advise as I'm looking to purchase a set when I can figure out which part number I need to use.

Circling back here. As per our contact at Mopar these part numbers are not available to order and there are no current plans from Mopar accessory to offer them. Essentially this is the same information we received months ago.

Thank you,
- Benny
