I did get my approval to from the CFP-CPS_CFO Unit to bring the Glock through Canada. It was way easier than I thought it would be. I called them. While on the phone, they emailed me the correct forms and stayed on the phone until I opened the email to ensure that I received them. I filled the form out, emailed it back to them. A few days later, they called me and told me my application was approved. They stayed on the phone, emailed the approval to me. Made sure I understood my requirement. Had me review the form with them before they hung up.
They were super nice and very professional. Hats off to them for being so easy to deal with.
The only thing that sucks in the process, is I have to state the border crossing that I will use to go in and out of Canada and the specific date that I will enter Canada and then have 7 days to exit Canada at the border crossing I told them that I would use for Alaska. It is 2000 miles across Canada. Not that 7 days is not sufficient time, it is that I have a schedule I now have to stick to and loose the ability to be flexible. It is the same process for returning to the lower 48. I planned to reenter and head home around the end of June to the first week of August, depending on how much fun we are having. I ended up putting down the date of August 5th. Te reenter Canada.
I had planned on trying to wheel with my local Michigan Jeep club in Colorado during the first two weeks or so of August, but we said hey if we are still having fun in Alaska, we may not meet you guy. The plan was loose and we were like if it happens, it happens. but with strict dates, I loose that flexibility.
