The fuel line on a 2023 is made of a vegetable matter.
Yep.
I surmise this is in part due to trying to "Go Green", but I digress.

Guess what likes to chew on vegetable matter????? Squirrels, that's what.

Guess what happens when you take delivery of a new jeep and have the dealer spray undercoat for beach, salt, sand protection and a chewed fuel line sprays gas all under your jeep? The undercoat comes off, runs down and stains the road, driveway and whatever else it drips on.

Guess what has taken my dealer 3 weeks to fix???? My damn jeep, that's what.

Ain't that something?!?!?

Oh well. More time to eradicate the tree rats.

Just FYI.

Just hope they haven’t started using peanut oil coated wires like Toyota, they love it too. ~ $5K 4R wire loom . Edit- ins covered - deductible

Squirrels don't necessarily target fuel lines. They get into engines more because of the warmth, then chew on a variety of things often just to keep their teeth filed down. Squirrel's teeth grow throughout their lives.

okay, so someone please come up with a low power draw accessory that gives up just enough warmth to attract the squirrels. Oh, and also attach a good old nail file to this contraption to make sure that’s the only spot the squirrels chew on!

FWIW- Toyota flatly stated they love their peanut oil wire shields when writing it up without being asked…. How I found out they were made with it. ? ❤ ?

Hoses lined with Fluoroelastomers , which is what the "plant matter" is, have nothing to do with going green.
They are used because standard rubber will quickly break down when using bio diesel and fuels containing ethanol.
Typically, there is only a lining of the material though, not the entire hose.
