I'm not sure that this is the most reassuring explanation to why the OP keeps getting their answering machine while seeking customer service.

[I couldn't resist] :)
Cause they are closed for Thanksgiving til Monday…..

I didn’t go full banana on the exhaust because I’m not sure which exhaust or test pipe I’d want to run in place of the DPF. I want to do the research first and make an informed decision once the DPF breaks, which I anticipate might happen in spring time. :) There’s also a chance I could gut the DPF when that happens, which would probably be the cheapest route.

DEF usage is supposed to slow down a bit per Green Diesel Engineering, so I should get a good read on that during my Dallas trip this weekend.
I was hoping to see a GDE vs EOC EGR delete comparison here. DEF consumption should go up for compensation I believe? I actually like the T&S speed shop offerings off the EOC website, but I’d try to reuse the OEM rear muffler or add one that’d fit above my Artec DPF skid.

You would expect DEF consumption to increase with EGR disabled, but that is where proper tuning shows its value. Based on my research, with EOC/MrTuning, the Stage 1 tune shuts off EGR without fully recalibrating the downstream logic. Combustion temperatures and NOx rise, the ECU still expects EGR flow, and the SCR system responds by overdosing DEF to compensate. The result is excessive DEF use because the system is reacting instead of being managed. It is well documented that their Stage 1 consumes a crazy amount of DEF, which is why many either opt for a DEF delete with Stage 1 or go straight to Stage 2.

From my understanding, GDE takes a different approach. Their Afterlife tune reshapes combustion, updates the NOx model, and remaps SCR dosing so raw NOx is reduced before it ever reaches the SCR. Because the system is re-engineered rather than bypassed, DEF consumption is actually minimized even with EGR disabled.

There is really no comparison between the two. GDE and EOC are on completely different levels when it comes to tuning depth and calibration quality. One is a fully engineered, reworked calibration, while the other is more of a basic disable approach. When you look at drivability, DEF usage, and long-term engine behavior, the difference is clear.

I like what T&S offers as well, and I have also looked at Black Bandit products, which seem solid. I am just trying to find a simple drop in pipe to replace the DPF while keeping everything else in the exhaust stock. They're all so expensive.

I'm the OP...purchased the GDE and sent off the ECM for flash, got everything back in two day once they received it. I also went for the 190°f thermostat. Got everything installed on Friday the day after Thanksgiving and sent them a note it was complete and I'm ready for the update file...

So Friday after Thanksgiving at 1900hrs...I get an email saying the update file is available!!! THAT'S AMAGING SERVICE!! Who would expect!! I'm blown away!! +10 GDE!!

I'm going to finish the flash this morning and pretty excited. Reading this post, I had no idea you could do a EGR delete! I have other question though and I'm gonna call them nest week when they reopen.

You made the right choice. What you described about the service matches what many of us, myself included, experienced. I also received my tune late at night and was surprised they were still working. Phenomenal company and product.

TheEGR off feature is one of the gems of the Afterlife tune, and the Afterlife tune itself is still not widely known since it was only released a few weeks ago for the 3rd gen EcoDiesel.

For context, EOC/MrT gained traction in the Jeep community largely by being one of the only delete options available, operating out of Canada and outside EPA pressure. That advantage brought huge marketshare, but many owners have shared that when problems showed up after tuning, support often became hit or miss and communication fell off. Many were met with condescending attitude by EOC when expressing poor communication on social media. I don’t say this to dog on EOC. The Jeep community simply deserves better.

GDE actually helps diagnose issues when something comes up, whether it’s tune-related or not. Their tune is more refined, their engineering is stronger, and their support is professional. I hope they continue to gain traction.

Thanks for the reply back, out of curiosity, do you have the end of life EGR delete? I am seriously considering going that route right away.
Presently we are on a cross country trip in the Jeep pulling a 19 ft Geo pro. The performance has been phenomenal, and the fuel mileage so far is 15.6 overall. Can't complain about that.
If you have the EGR delete, any feedback would be appreciated.

I recently went in and had the Afterlife tune completed. The drive home confirmed that there are substantial power gains and fuel economy benefits.
As time and miles accumulate, I will get a better idea of the benefits and post. I will say they definitely know what they are doing, are very service oriented and are great at answering all of your questions. As an added bonus they are funny as hell too….spent an hour and a half with them and had some good conversations and laughs. From my online research, GDE seems to have the best solution for our Ecodiesels.

I'm running GDE with the 190⁰f thermostat.... awesome! I'm wanting the End of Life next. Is it just a delete or is the EGR removed?

It’s a software delete. You can pull out everything if you would like without getting codes but I’ve decided to keep everything intact until it malfunctions before I do a full delete. At that time, I’ll pick up a full exhaust replacement and be done.
