This is my first Wrangler ever, and I was bitten by the bug after seeing one in my hometown and thinking: Damn, now that's what a Wrangler should look like! I don't plan to do too many mods as this will be my daily driver (I don't drive a ton) and I want to pick up wheeling with the family (which they're TOTALLY on board with).

I knew out of the gates I was doing tires and wheels (happening today)

Here's my list of mods, some are small, some are large, some are just jeep projects... I may not do all of these as some of them I found in the forum here and WANT but don't NEED...
  1. Remove visor stickers, still need to remove the rest of the residue, but it’s not sticky anymore
  2. New Wheels/Tires
    1. Milestar Patagonia M/T 315/70/17
    2. Pro Comp 7069 Series 17x9
  3. Seat Covers - we have a dog and kids!

  12. Flashlight
  13. AEV JL Bumpers - Personal preference. I know some people hate them and some love them.
  14. Winch
  15. Lift kit??
    1. AEV
    2. Metalcloak +1
    3. EVo with kings
    4. Old Man Emu

I am a newbie on a similar path as you but with a granite Sport. I'm looking at 35" KO2's with AEV Pintler or Salta wheel. Also looking at the new AEV JL bumpers, but also really like the steel Rubicon Bumper.

Looking forward to your updates!

Mchewd - You and I are on the same path.... I liked the AEV stuff and really liked the Savegre, but my neighbor has those so I didn't want to have the same wheels.

I chose to go with the JL Plastic Bumper so that when I upgraded to the AEV bumpers I didn't feel like I was throwing away a good bumper.

Yeah, I’m not even sure I want to lift it yet. I like it as is right now. If I do lift I’ll probably wait for the reviews on the AEV lift.

Good news: I did the seat cover install
Bad news: I did it in my garage starting at 9p and the photos are terrible. I’ll get good photos this week.

The goal: protect the original cloth from sweat and mud (after going to the gym, doing some of the events I do, etc.) and protect from the kids.

Initial impression:
They cover everything, so my goal is attained
The back seats: look and feel fantastic and the covers fit perfectly. If you didn’t know they were seat covers, you might think they were the original seats.

The front seats
: They feel the same as the back and look pretty good. The fit isn’t as tight because of the bucket nature of the front seats. I’m hoping this settles a bit. Jeep did some good work on making sure things stay tight by putting elastic bands in hidden places to hold the original cloth nice and tight. That makes it hard in some places to make these seat covers perfectly tight. In the stock photo below the seat covers settle into the front bucket seat back, mine don’t settle like that and I think it’s due to me not being able to pull the cover super tight.

Comfort: They’re really nice and add a nice layer of “cushion” to the seats. My son loves them because his short hair used to catch in the cloth seats and it would pull his hair (as a little kid this makes you tear up), so he’s pumped!

Overall: ABSOLUTELY worth the $160, especially given the price of most other seat covers that don’t cover everything.

Here are the covers I used:

And finally.... photos. LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of photos. Hope I captured what everyone wants to see.
Let me know if there’s some aspect you want me to take a better picture of.

Hey @abdikey, I really don’t have any answers right now, being new to this I’m just researching everything. I may not even do a lift kit. I like how it looks now with the 35s and no additional lift. I’ve been reading about all this and understand that the bigger mods, like lift kits, gearing, steering, etc. all have to do with what you plan to do with your Jeep, and then the good ones aren’t cheap because they have to adjust geometry and other factors as you make these adjustments so it drives right. The AEV lift is mainly designed for overland wheeling and I think (don’t quote me) that the metalcloak lift is more for bouldering.

Either way, as you can see, I just don’t know the answer, and it’s likely I won’t do any lift at all.

Thanks for all the photos! I was looking at these ... I wanted to get something to protect the leather seats during topless season

@kimmonia - they seem to be working out great, and the seat heaters do come through them... all be it a little bit slower than just the seats themselves. The good news is that they're waterproof so I don't worry about kids, dog, coffee, etc.

I'll keep them on year round because I do things all year round that could bring mud/dirt/kids/dog into the car and I don't want to have to worry every time.
