We are heading up to the Grand Canyon

Can we even drive down to the bottom?
I don't think so but you can ride a mule to the bottom. :like:

I think all the 4x4 roads in the national monument are on the north side.

Don't do what I did. We drove our JK to the canyon from Peach Springs, Az., but when I got to the Colorado river, there were no trails or no places to go. The trail just ended at the river. (35.76600867301347, -113.37319114592131) I started in Peach Springs, AZ. and drove through the Hualapai Indian Reservation on County Road 6 to the river. It was kind of a disappointment. I know there are better locations to drive to that have a good 4WD trail.

While on the trail to the Colorado river, we were stopped by a Hualapai sheriff. He wanted $60 for us to continue through the reservation and he did not take credit cards. I don't travel with much cash so we had an issue. I did give him all the cash I had plus all the cash my wife had, which was about $50. He seemed happy with that and let us continue, but he followed us all the way to the river. I sort of felt like it was "dirt trail robbery".

After your Grand Canyon visit, turn around and go to Sedona , there are plenty of nice jeep trails and you wont wind up like a Wile E Coyote
