Well good news is I picked mine up yesterday.

They did this work
  • V41 Recall - Done correctly first time
  • Replaced Trackbar
  • PCM update for cooling fan noise
  • Front Spk buzz - Replaced lower driver spk as they found it was defective.

I can say my steering is right on, no more constant corrections and more of a pleasure to drive now.

I just wish they would have done all of this the first time I brought it in and not waited until I went on a social media blitz and having to contact the Regional Service Manager.

But the squeaking wheel gets the grease right? I had to call them out on it and they wanted to win back my future business. They took care of it in a professional timely matter. I have found that if you as the customer do not get what you are paying for or expecting you need to call them out and let not only them know but future customers of your experiences with that said business.

Tuttle Click Jeep, Irvine CA - Proved they can do the job right!

They replaced my front speaker too, but it was not the speaker that I am having issues with. I even told them that and they still replaced the wrong speaker.

Did it take care of the play in the steering wheel ?
I put this same stabilizer on after taking the V41 off and it gives the steering a more firm feel that I really notice when turning and I am very happy with it. But it did nothing for the play in the steering wheel (and I didn’t expect it to). My Jeep is at the dealer now for the play in the steering (about three inches). More details in the big steering thread.

I was told by a jeep dealer employee that FCA is so screwed up it is hard to get good techs and techs to stay because of FCA.
From what I was told by my Service Manager FCA Techs make half of what the GM and Ford techs do so it's difficult to get good Mechanics .

Please keep me posted I believe I'm going to suggest to my service manager to replace the draglink and steering gear box .

Try sending out a memo to all the Tech's who replace the steering dampener to Read The Instructions....there is a sticker on the shock tube and the buldge if the sticker is wrong. Mine was installed incorrectly and it took me 3 minutes to correct it.
Good grief.

I just had mine done and they installed it wrong. Drove right back and they flipped it around. Service manager tried saying it didn’t matter. I asked why was there a sticker then? Radio silence was his response. Only drove about 6 miles on it. I assume everything is ok with it and nothing was damaged due to it being installed incorrectly? Anyone know the reason for it being directional?

According to FCA it is to allow faster fluid transfer, thereby supposedly enhancing the performance as long as the bulge is positioned downward. Additionally it will be damaged if the bulge is installed up.

Do you know where that is documented? The service manager at my dealership insists that it can’t be incorrectly installed. So after I show him FCA’s own installation documentation, I suspect they’ll just reinstall it. But I’ve been driving on it a couple of weeks and if it may have been damaged then I want a new one. So I’m sure I’ll have to point him to that document as well.

I don't think it would damage it as I have driven on it for more than a week, until I corrected it...I believe it works better, as installed correctly.

Having new track bar installed, but NOT by a Jeep dealer. Interestingly my mechanic put a GoPro camera under the front of a JL to show how the stock track bar flexes and yes it does, so for $150. for a Rough Country track bar I'm taking care of it to make sure it's done right, with the track bar of my choice by someone I trust.

It's sad that Jeep dealers don't even install the steering stabilizers right, but then having to deal with the attitude when you tell them it's installed wrong. This is so wrong!

Had my V41 work performed. Decided to do an oil change at the same time. Not the thread for this but this is my second oil change. First one, they overfilled it. This time I specifically pointed it out. They still overfilled it. Had it corrected while still there. Drove home and thought, "better check the steering stabilizer." Yep, installed wrong... Back to the dealership I go. I expressed that I wanted a new stabilizer due to the potential for damage if it is installed incorrectly. Not sure if anyone has experienced this with the new stabilizer but my steering feels too firm now. It also appears to cause my Jeep to pull very slightly to the right. I had zero issues with my steering prior to having the V41 work performed. My Jeep steered and tracked perfectly. I should have left well enough alone but was concerned that the V41 was a safety recall. I was just curious if anyone is not happy with the Jeep steering post V41 install.

Stabilizer replaced and done correctly. Can tell no difference in driving the Jeep. Drove great before and after. Sept 18 build.
