Not a jeep... yet!
I’m hoping this is alright to post here! I feel like I’m in over my head and could use some advice.

I’m wanting to buy a new Jeep and I’m wondering if this is a good deal. I know Jeep’s are popular, but with 2020 models coming out soon, should I try and find one lower? Here is the deal:

2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara MSRP: $49,600 Listed: $43,600 Current offer: $42,500

The only wrinkle is that it’s a dealer model with 5,000 miles. They’re giving me a fair price on my trade in, and I’ll be financing the rest through them.

So, good deal? Or not? Or should I just try and find a 2019? What price are people targeting for those?

A good deal on a 2019 is about 12% off msrp (which is roughly 6% below invoice). Keep in mind, some are getting 7-8% below invoice. The deal you are looking at is a 2018 with 5000 miles on it for only around 14-15% off msrp. Does NOT sound good to me.

Don't think it's that great of a deal. I am getting 13.2% off MSRP for my 2019 order through the dealer in MD (8% off invoice) while you are getting 14.3% off. The additional 1.1%, which is about $500, is not worth 1 model year older and 5k miles on it.

With 5k miles on the odometer, that's far from being new. As others have noted, the price they have quoted you is too close to what folks are getting for an actually new wrangler. Maybe some other dealer will give a fair price on your trade.

And also keep in mind that when buying a demo, it's not like buying a slightly used car with 5K miles. Its buying a car with 100 drivers that beat the crap out of it. I wouldn't touch a dealer demo unless it was half off or less ;)
